Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Saddam has now carved his legacy in history. His brutality has been striped from him. He will now be known as "The Master of Miscalculation".

Yes, but if the burning bldg was behind mosque, then that would not be university... would be the SE side of the city.

Rope being replaced by heavy-duty chain.
Frank Sinatra's speaker being used to warn Iraqis to stand clear of the statue so that they don't get injured by falling Sadaam.

They're so vain, they'll be watching...waiting for the mother ship to pick them up, perhaps.

Who has screen caps of the tanks and all!!!!
Reporter on CNN (not Zahn) totally mischaraterizes the "Go Home HUman Shields : US Wankers" sign, as being "go home US" sentiment. CNN wankers.

That's amazing. What sick, bitter creatures slink the swampy night of DU. Does that stand for Dark Underbelly?

Sky News reported that the Saddam statue is less than a year old, put up for Saddam's 65th birthday on 4/28/2002.I still say it looks more like a giant, bloated Mansour Ijaz.

When did all this liberation jubilation start? I just woke up and am trying to catch up on the situation!

I too looked at DU for a few minutes - pretty hard to stomach. I guess they see this as a zero sum game...but it's not. Maybe Bush wins something here, and morality also...but the biggest winners are the people of Iraq.

A few kilograms of C-4 ought to work too. It would be more dramatic to do it the way we did the swaztika near Berlin in 1945.

(to all)
what's "T" mean when it's on the Marine Hummer?
It's T/3/4, which is 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, in the 7th Regimental Task Force, which is the Marine unit in the square.
