Bush: 'We are committed to the Road Map'

By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

President George W. Bush said Tuesday that the US and Britain "are committed to the Road Map toward peace."

Speaking at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, Bush added: "Now this process must be carried forward."

Moments earlier Blair also reaffirmed Britain's commitment to the plan, which calls for achieving Palestinian statehood by 2005.

"It's a hopeful time. I believe we can make progress," Bush said.

Bush further said he is pleased with the designated Palestinian premier Mahmoud Abbas.

I'm pro-Israel. Outside of complexities of history which I believe are clearly on their side, they are the only civilized bunch over there.
I was initially against the road map, but let me tell you what changed my mind. If you read it, its cagey. It demands free elections of a prime minister, something they will never do. I think it could be a brilliant political calculation: heck, if they do have a free election, they will solve their problems plotically and the killing will stop. If they don't, they will be shown for the terrorists that they are....give it a chance

They don't want a "Palestinian state," they want what the Jews have.

Israel is a democracy and is made up of citizens that are Jews,Muslim Arabs, and Christians. If current demographic trends continue, Jews will be a minority in Israel by 2020. For democracy to survive and flourish in Israel, we must move beyond "what the Jews have", and consider the future of Israel and all it's people.

Listen you are the one who answered Asher statement that no nation prevented the holocaust by saying we defeated the germans. I saying asher was right when he said no prevented the holocaust....if we had there would have been no holocaust.

It would not have taken Nostradamus to see the Holocaust coming. We knew what Hitler would do when he wrote Mein Kamph...we knew as early '36 that the Jews were being sent to Dachau.

Oh and by the way it doesn't take a prophet or seer to see the future. All you have to do is add up the facts and TAKE ACTION. Because Roosevelt didn't take any action does not mean there was none to be taken. History proves he knew. What do you think we are doing in Iraq...we are preventing things from happening. So what it takes is POLITICAL WILL to stop things. Too bad roosevelt didn't have any.

So what's a better and more humane option, to continue to live in a squalid refugee camp hoping that eventually you will move into that Jew's house in Netanya, or to move to a nice new subdivision in the democracy formerly known as Iraq?

That's the first time I have seen that suggestion, concerning Iraq. Has there been anything written on this in the media?

"The German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941 was the start of the Holocaust as we know it"....tell that to the Jews in Dachau in '36. Do you actually believe what you just typed?? Nazis were banning Jews from everything and bashes their skulls in with pipes in '27 and '28. You really need to learn your history. Maybe take it a little farther than the History Channel

Lets see one Google search on the word Dachau and lets start with this:

Concentration Camp Dachau : The Early Days
By the first of May, 1933, there were 1200 inmates in the camp; mostly political prisoners from Munich. These were comprised by "...members of the Social Democratic and Communist parties, many Catholics and many Jewish doctors and lawyers." 7 Guards began murdering inmates from the very first days of the camp's existence.

Close to the end of 1933, 4,821 registered prisoners had arrived in Dachau. By 1945, 206,206 prisoners had been registered. The total number of dead may never be known. Soviet prisoners of war were summarily executed by the thousands, civilians were assigned by the Gestapo to the camp for "Sonderbehandlung" ("Special Treatment," a Nazi euphemism which signified "killing"), and a great many died in evacuation marches and death marches. These deaths were never registered. The International Tracing Service in Arolson reports 31,591 dead among the prisoners that were registered.8

You can go to just this site if you wish http://www.holocaust-history.org/dachau-gas-chambers/ or you can do a Google search and check any of the other 304,000 sites.

"We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." -James Madison
This quote, at least, is a fabrication. Even David Barton, its original promulgator, admits he cannot confirm it.

Many of the Founders and Framers may have approved of religion, but for the most part they did not want it mixed with government.

What do we need to take action on right now????

regime change in NK, where a communist thug starves his people. Genocide on a huge scale.

regime change in Iran, where the mullahs oppress their people and fund the very terrorist in Israel that this whole thread was started on.

A hit on Fidel Castro.

Then maybe we could move to Africa and start reforming those countries.

Sounds like a start. I doubt W will be able to get it all in, maybe Condi can finish it off after 2008.

What happens to the 3 million Palestinians after this inevitable war is won? Do they become Israeli citizens, remain in the status quo, or are they resettled in another country?

They get resettled in their homeland: Jordan. Once the war starts, they will have squandered every other option they never deserved in the first place.

President Bush has provided outstanding leadership in our War on Terrorism. I am prepared to follow his lead and judgement on the best way to resolve the Palestinian/Israel dilemma.

I agree with the first statement, but we can't ignore the Historical precedence for the President's success in the War on Terror: America the supreme temporal force for good, fights and defeats the great temporal evils (Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Communist Soviet Union, and now, Islamic Expansionism), and makes the world a better place.

None of the President's success in the Historically well-precedented War on Terror, however, will mean there is any hope for success in the Historically refuted "road map."

The President's leadership in the WoT has been successful precisely because he followed the path of success indicated by History. If he chooses contrary paths, which History demonstrates must fail, there is no reason to follow him down those roads, regardless of whatever map he might draw.

As far I knew this thread was about Israel and Jordanians...we are not talking about 50 other issues. If you would like to bring up a few go ahead. You are the one who tried and claim that we prevented the holocaust when we stopped it. That is the bottom line, you were, are and will always be wrong on that arguement, which is where we started. I know when I am wrong, so go ahead bring up 50 other topics......

What is it with the Monday AM QB jab?? I say again that is what we all are on here. Unless.....oh no......I'm sorry GOD...I didn't know you visited Free Republic...my bad.

Can you put aside your American jingoism and join the conversation.

I will compare them because they are in the same straits.

We suffer from Islamic terrorists and so do they. They bury their dead and so do we.

The threat does not come from within Israel, but from without. From the same source, the same root, the same reason.

My word... please don't let the debate degenerate to the lowest point possible.

Many of the Founders and Framers may have approved of religion, but for the most part they did not want it mixed with government.

ALL of the Founders 'approved of religion', and very nearly all were Christians of the orthodox type.

In fact, they believed that the Republic could not stand without Christianity. There is not a single statement extant that would even suggest otherwise, and thousands that would prove what I'm saying.

I hate historical revisionism.

AAAhhh....so now I see. "Oceans of blood" eh?? How many innocent Americans are you willing to sacrifice while we sit on our hands.

Maybe you didn't know it but we have never been attacked by a Democraticly elected goverment. If we spread freedom and liberty we diminsh our chances for being attacked. Or do you dispute that as well?

Bullsh*t. They did not want Government attempting to establish any religion. But they also knew, and stated in so many words, that Laws without religion-based morals were useless, for without moral honor, why would any honor the Laws passed by Government?

America is a Christian Nation, was founded as a Christian nation, and suffers the tragedies we see today (crack babies, child pornography, abortion clinics, 9-11, etc.) as a direct result of turning our backs on God.

People ask, "Where was God on 9-11?!!"

Well, He was right where you left Him. Suck it up.
