This Saturday's Support Our Troops Rally is being put on by the same folks who did the rally on March 29th that was covered by The Arizona Republic thusly...
About 200 attend downtown event

As a Vietnam veteran, Oscar Urrea couldn't help but draw parallels between war protests then and now at a "Support Our Troops" rally Saturday at Patriots Square in downtown Phoenix.
"The support they need now is not what was given us in Vietnam," said Urrea, 55, who wore his Army 101st Airborne Division leather jacket. "No matter if you are on the left or right, you have men and women in harm's way who need our support."
But the "left" was clearly in the gun sights at the pro-war rally, with speakers and signs attacking celebrity war critics, including Martin Sheen, Mike Farrell and Barbra Streisand.
War supporters proudly waved U.S., British and Marine Corps flags that flapped in a stiff breeze. One even displayed a Texas flag in an apparent reference to President Bush.
"These anti-war demonstrators are so well-organized and financed, they get a lot of coverage," said organizer John Koener, a Phoenix resident. "We're trying to get some presence out there so our troops know they're in our hearts and minds."
Mesa residents Eric and Milena Arbogast wore their "Bomb Saddam" T-shirts and attended the rally in support of a friend, Cody Nelson, a Marine who is in Iraq and poised for the invasion of Baghdad.
"I'm proud of him and he's proud to be there to fight for our freedom," Eric Arbogast said. "He wouldn't want to be anywhere else but there right now."
Milena Arbogast went to school with Nelson, a standout football player at Mesa's Dobson High School.
"We're worried about his safety, but we have pride in him," she said.
Eric Arbogast said he wished more people had attended the rally.
A Phoenix police lieutenant estimated the crowd at the outdoor amphitheater numbered about 200. They chanted "U.S.A., U.S.A.," sang along to Amazing Grace and prayed for the troops.
The rally dredged up a Vietnam-era term, as several rallygoers alluded to war supporters as "the Silent Majority."
Navy reservist James Bisacca of Scottsdale wore his camouflage uniform and took photos of the rally to send to his friends still in Kuwait. Bisacca said he returned home March 6 after three months in Kuwait with a unit that protects supply ships.
"The anti-war protesters have their right to say their piece, but it hurts morale a little bit," Bisacca said.

I will be there! Contact me if there is anything I can do to help, if need be. I look forward to seeing all my fellow Arizona Freepers.

I like the poster!. Just a suggestion, you might think about doing something creative with the picture of the little Iraqi girl holding the American flag, that appears on Drudge this afternoon... Good luck and see you at the rally.

I just heard an interesting suggestion on Hugh Hewitt. Why not change the name of "Squaw Peak", a place name that grates on nerves of the politically correct crowd, to "Piestewa Peak", after the Hopi woman soldier who died in Iraq two weeks ago? This would be supported by just about everyone, as I see it, would remove a rather silly sore spot, in my estimation, and would make everyone happy, except maybe the hardcore anti-war anti-Americans. And, frankly, who cares what they think?
"Pfc. Lori Piestewa, who (had) been missing in Iraq since last weekend. The 23-year-old Hopi is the daughter of a Vietnam veteran, the granddaughter of a World War II veteran and a source of pride for Tuba City as one of the very few Indian women in the military."
What do you think? Is this a good idea for a tribute to her? Should we as Freepers discuss this and support it? The changing of "Squaw Peak" to "Piestewa Peak" seems fitting, honorable, and sounds sonorous to me. Hope to talk to everyone soon. Take care.

Thanks!

Well, be careful my friend.
E.J. Montini and The AZ Republic's editorial page agree with you...
Rename Squaw Peak to honor soldier from Tuba City
Apr. 8, 2003 12:00 AM
Grief is a raw and penetrating emotion that should not be politicized.
But sometimes rare clarity comes out of the pain. And sometimes unexpected healing can emerge from the tears.
The brave death of Pfc. Lori Piestewa can be one of those times.
In the rural Arizona town where Piestewa went to high school, those who knew her spelled out her name with white stones atop a 200-foot mesa just outside town. Flags flew at half-staff in the community where she once led the Tuba City High School Junior Marine ROTC. Friends brought food to her family.
These demonstrations of grief for a Hopi woman who lived on the Navajo Reservation mark the sacrifice of a single mother who is believed to be the first Native American woman killed in combat while fighting for the U.S. military.
These are touching, fitting and natural outpourings of the pain the death of a loved one inflicts on the living.
Next month, Piestewa will be honored by the country she died for in ceremonies in Washington.
That, too, is appropriate. The nation owes more than it can repay to those willing to die in its name.
Arizona can do something, too.
The state can use this tragedy to end an enduring controversy and honor a woman whose life was dedicated to service.
It can rename Squaw Peak as Piestewa Peak. It can end the long-running concern by some Native American activists that the word "squaw" is demeaning and insulting to the first Americans.
Some will say this is politically correct pap.
They are wrong. This can be a fitting way to honor one of Arizona's war dead and heal an old wound.
