Palestinian, Jordanian gunmen fighting in Baghdad

By CAROLINE GLICK

Baghdad

The US Army's 3rd infantry division, 2-7 Mechanized Infantry Brigade, is involved in a fierce battle with Palestinian and Jordanian gunmen in the industrial area of southern Baghdad.

The people shooting at US forces are using coordinated attacks using RPG's, suicide trucks, artillery, and sniper fire.

Two journalists and two military personnel were killed in the coordinated attack by the Palestinian and Jordanian fighters.

Military sources are saying that they know from prisoners of war that the Palestinian and Jordanian fighters are attempting to reorganize Iraqi resistance in Baghdad.

The military sources called the gunmen "thugs".

There are some US casualties, but many more enemy casualties.

I find rewarding them with a state to be illogical.

In order to be consistent, you'd have to assert that we shouldn't reward Iraq with a state after this war, either.

Killing these Palestinians and Jordanians is an excellent idea, but it's not directly related to what the long-term political solution for the region will be.

Arafat has been Saddams b**ch since before the 1991 Gulf War. I dont have a problem with the belief that these Palestinian terrorists were sanctioned and congratulated by him. I am also sure Arafat isnt stupid enough to have that written down somewhere.

How about the Palestinians who celebrated supposed American setbacks in this war?

How about the Palestinians who vowed to wage Jihad on American if we went to war?

I dont give any Palestinian source credibility for telling the truth. Their actions speak to me.

I am sure every Palestinian apologist is going to be out to discredit this and elevate Arafat to sainthood soon, but to me, they are the enemy.

Saddam has paid thousands of dollars to Palestinians who have killed Israeli civilians in the "Intifada", given then moral support, and encouraged the Palestinians to kill more Israelis ( and now Americans too) .

Its a two way street. Its high time we recognize who the enemy is.

Exactly. Kill them all. That's less of them going back home to kill poor innocent Israelis.

Palestinians?
Let's see how good they are and how long they last attacking soldiers who shoot back.

By the way do they still all hide their faces?

"RULE OF THUMB: The U.S. has no "friends" in the Middle East."

Given you are culturally predisposed to hate Jews I guess that would be your opinion. However, we can rest easy in the knowledge that outside of your family circle your own little opinion counts for exactly zero.

Only someone as paranoid as you could possibly derive that conclusion from what I said.

This is the first I have heard of Jordanians being involved. I'm not convinced Jordan is a problem.

They're not. Relatively speaking (of course) Jordan, along with Kuwait, is one of the most progressive states in the Arab world. They have a high economic growth rate, while most of the Arab world is near zero or worse, and are focusing heavily on education and the building of a civil society. I doubt King Abdullah really minds our military chewing up any number of these thugs and jihadis.

That was awful nice of them to come to us.

That means there will be just that many less to have to track down.

Oh come on, you know the insane focus on Israel is from anti-Jew sentiment that includes and has gone on since before koranic times.

The Jews have everyone beat already, but everyone hates and fights them absurdly anyway.

"Only someone as paranoid as you could possibly derive that conclusion from what I said."

Don't you just love the way they hide behind that childish defence.

Paranoid? No, little Illbay, after 2000 years of persecution we Jews have a highly developed sense of smell and the odor that Jew haters exude tends to be quite pungent and foul.

Is it your opinion that Israel is a "Jewish Republic" just as Iran is an "Islamic Republic" then?

Has there been a military engagement yet in this war that has not been characterized as a "fierce battle"? For crying out loud - a fierce battle is where we get a lot of our guys killed and wounded, and the outcome of the battle is called into question, not these roving massacres our boys have been laying on these dickweeds.

The sad thing about that line from Pulp Fiction is it's not Ezekiel 25:17.

The only thing I can think is that it's a piecing together of several passages. The real 17th verse is:

will execute great vengeance upon them with wrathful chastisements. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I lay my vengeance upon them."

It's all about Moabites and Edomites and Philistines, God is talking about specific tribes he had dealt defeat for His People. I can't find the rest of the so-called verse.

Needless to say, I was quite disappointed when I looked it up, as it would be one of the top 3 Bible verses.

They have their own agenda...

That may well be. I suspect you're referring to a "Jewish" or "Israeli" agenda. However, Jpost was bought up some time ago by foreign interests, so it's not even particularly Israeli as far as I know.

Once I hear another source back this up I will believe it!

Where have you been lately? Just to give you two examples: not long ago someone (I think BBC world) had an interview with a Jordanian as he packed his car and drove off to Iraq to fight for Saddam. And yesterday, Sky News's David Chater interviewed two foreign fighters in Baghdad.

We'll get them all. And the only "Palestinian" state will be the state of "dead".
