Palestinian, Jordanian gunmen fighting in Baghdad

By CAROLINE GLICK

Baghdad

The US Army's 3rd infantry division, 2-7 Mechanized Infantry Brigade, is involved in a fierce battle with Palestinian and Jordanian gunmen in the industrial area of southern Baghdad.

The people shooting at US forces are using coordinated attacks using RPG's, suicide trucks, artillery, and sniper fire.

Two journalists and two military personnel were killed in the coordinated attack by the Palestinian and Jordanian fighters.

Military sources are saying that they know from prisoners of war that the Palestinian and Jordanian fighters are attempting to reorganize Iraqi resistance in Baghdad.

The military sources called the gunmen "thugs".

There are some US casualties, but many more enemy casualties.

"No Palestinian State, and an American repuditation of UN Resolution 242 would be an excellent start, IMHO"

Great start. Can I add one?

Sack Arafat and run his terrorist tail up a pole while we do the things you suggested.

The 3ID has become a travel agent for Muslims wanting to reach paradise.

They all seem to have a death wish, don't they? I'm sure our troops will be glad to accommodate their wishes.

We need to make sure that none of these foreign combatants escape. They must all be killed or we'll have to fight them in other Arab countries as well.

No prisoners. Kill all the outsider Arab fighters.

If Palestinians are fighting on behalf of Saddam Hussein, then they must face the consequences.

No Palestinian State, and an American repuditation of UN Resolution 242 would be an excellent start, IMHO

Amen to those suggestions!

I've seen at least one report that some of Paelstinian gunmen are from Arafat's faction of the PLO.

This is the first I have heard of Jordanians being involved. I'm not convinced Jordan is a problem. As for the Palestinians, though, they CLEARLY have sided against the United States of America.

I find rewarding them with a state to be illogical.

It seems the Palestinians have finally found their niche: hired killers. Iran has reportedly been using Pali thugs to control uprisings when the Iranian military refuses to slaughter their countrymen.

Let em keep coming, the more Arab terrorists we kill in this war, the less we have to kill in the next one.

I am glad that the Palestinians came out fighting, maybe now people will see WHAT these people REALLY stand for! Some want to give these thugs and murderers land and have a Palestinian State. I think the only land a terrorist needs is a hole about 6 foot deep. They are no better than Saddam and deserve nothing.

Fine by our troops, let Iraq import more targets for us.
That'll be alot less homicide bomber 'geniuses' around to bother Israel later.
Also gives us an excuse to go and poke into Arafat's domain a little.
As well as Jordan.
Act of war and all that.

I agree that the Palestinians are supporting Saddam, and ought to pay the price.

But in fact the Jordanians are ALSO supporting Iraq. We have found Jordanian military hardward (including artillery rounds), and there are many Jordanians in Iraq fighting for this fascist regime.

Jordan has supported Saddam in return for subsidized oil. There hands aren't clean, even though we are ostensibly "friendly" with them.

RULE OF THUMB: The U.S. has no "friends" in the Middle East.

Unbelievable that these visitors are willing to die for a foreign country.

Dang, can these guys pick a winner or what? We need to pass the word to the Arab street that Abrams tanks are being knocked out by martyrs who run real hard at them and give them a head-butt against the hull. It would save ammo.
