Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Can't you see the crew purposely driving him nuts telling him his hair is askew?

I'd love to see his hair(piece) go flying off the roof!!

I hope you:

1. Clean out your cache before signing off; and
2. Never, ever let Mr. Mo1 learn how to use the "Search" feature on FR and enter "Mo1" hehe

any statement from Bush-Blair meeting on UN role?

I haven't heard anything formal, but did hear Bush was firm in keeping the UN, France, Germany and Russia at arm's length; no matter how much Tony wants otherwise.

NAW, it's all good. It wouldn't be worth anything just to have it handed to us, if we didn't have to work for it! (tell that to SCOTUS)

I'm frankly quite surprised at your parsing of words. "Fought?" He spied. It's against the law for an American citizen to steal classified information and SELL IT.

Press is creating and hungering for a fight between Bush-Blair and Powell-Rumsfeld. Must handle this UN thing delicately.

I LOVE our military stuff! I love seeing my tax dollars used for all this amazing weaponry that not only saves our GI's hides but does every other good thing that war stuff is made to do. I love it that somehow our military guys were able to keep developing these tricksy weapons under x42's nose.

God bless our economy so we can stay strong in defense (and offense when needed).

God bless our "guys".

Funny thing is, in a few years, Baghdad may well replace Paris as a popular travel destination...

Looks like they'll also be offering up some stiff competition to all those tourist dollars now being paid at the gates of Auschwitz.

Bush knows how to handle the press and its inclination to stir the pot. Se UN/Iraq relationship before the war, for example.

Powell and Rumsfeld have and will continue to make the media look foolish; Bush and Blair are equally capable in that regard.

UPDATE WITH **PHOTOS** -- Police violence shocks activists, others at Oakland, CA protestJust a warning...the article to the local paper where the protest occurred paints the cops as wild-eyed madmen firing at will at the protesters who were just standing around holding hands and singing Kumbyah.

Neil Cavuto just did a great rant to the anti-war all-the-time folks who refuse to believe that Saddam might have needed to be put out of business.

Here in Socialist Seattle, I just saw a reporter in Bellevue (where the big money lives) doing MOS interviews. What I could force myself to listen to included comments such as one man who [still] didn't understand what all the rush was to go into Iraq.

He fought Saddam when the US was being stupid about it. There IS a problem with the "My country right or wrong" motto when taken beyond the point of morality. That problem is in fact and law, recognized. A Soldier must not obey and illegal order, and may well be held to account for blind obedience to such an order.

Pollard spyed. Morally, what he did is now proven right. He spyed to prevent a murderer, Saddam, from murdering. Was there a clear bright line of morality at the time? No. Some of our leaders thought is wise statecraft to support mudrderers and murderous regimes as long as they serve some "real-politik" interest of statecraft. Well , that's bunk. Always has been bunk. Morality is morality, and murderers are murderers.

Pollard's moral vision -- his compass -- was NOT as impaired as that of some of our leaders at the time. The fruit of such "real-politik" was brought home to all of us clearly on 9/11. The delusional age of "real-politik" that puts "shrewd" statecraft ahead of basic morality is over.

Geeze Louise I sure hope so. I saw Koffee Kan on TV today gasping for relevance, claiming that only the UN could bring legitimacy to the new Iraq. Frankly I wouldn't trust anything the UN created in Iraq. Or anywhere else. I actually emailed the whitehouse.gov site about this. Prairie (fuming but not surprised at the arrogance of the UN Weasles---keep 'em out of Iraq GW!!)

I'm listening to Sean Hannity, and Newt had another great quote. In reference to why Liberals don't see the evil in the world, he said something like...

"To the left there is no evil in the world, because if there were, force would be justified, and if force is justified, we're right, and if we're right, the left's wrong."

Newt should NEVER be ignored, he is sooo good.
