Pollard spyed. Morally, what he did is now proven right. He spyed to prevent a murderer, Saddam, from murdering. Was there a clear bright line of morality at the time? No. Some of our leaders thought is wise statecraft to support mudrderers and murderous regimes as long as they serve some "real-politik" interest of statecraft. Well , that's bunk. Always has been bunk. Morality is morality, and murderers are murderers.
Pollard's moral vision -- his compass -- was NOT as impaired as that of some of our leaders at the time. The fruit of such "real-politik" was brought home to all of us clearly on 9/11. The delusional age of "real-politik" that puts "shrewd" statecraft ahead of basic morality is over.
