WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark said Monday she apologized to Washington for saying the war with Iraq would not have happened if Al Gore were in the White House.
"I judged in the end that because things had been read into the comment which I never intended, there was something to put right and I've done that," Clark told New Zealand's TV One.

Why apologize?
It's essentially true.
Had Gore been elected after 9-11 he'd have banned guns and subbed out our defense to China. Yup, peace at last.

Actually, she's right. Al Gore would have shot a few more cruise missiles up camel's rears, signed the Kyoto Treaty, joined the ICC, and done nothing about future terrorist attacks.

That was my reaction. We ought to applaud Helen Clark for her perspicacity.

Couldn't agree more. Had Gore won we would be practicing Cantonese.

My thought too. Nothing to apologize for. That's one of the main reasons we elected George Bush, because we knew he would defend the US against enemies foreign and domestic, and Al Gore would not.

...she apologized to Washington for saying the war with Iraq would not have happened if Al Gore were in the White House. Well, actually she's right. If algore were in the White House he'd still be sitting in a corner drooling, sucking his thumb, and clinging tightly to Tipper's purse.
And Saddam would still be merrily manufacturing chemical and biological weapons, searching dilligently for weapons-grade uranium, and torturing and executing his citizens.

Had Gore won we would be practicing Cantonese. Or memorizing the Koran.

Hey Helen,
How the hell do you know what Al Whore would do or not do? The
ex vice traitor who participated in Chinagate treason and the illegal alien naturalization scheme known as 'citizenship usa' lied every time he opened his mouth. Al Whore even lied about his own family, his own flesh in blood to advance his political career. He lied about making a death bed pledge to his sister. He lied about his mother in law using the arthritis drug lodine. He used his son's tragic accident to advance his political career. He used his wife's mental illness to advance his own political career. You can't get more evil then to use your own flesh and blood like
this. If Al Whore was willing to use his own flesh and blood to advance his political career then what do you think he would do to the rest of us...hmmm Helen? Another left wing dummy..

Otherwise said, she is acknowledging that it appears that our side is winning and the socialists are losing again, and nobody gives a crap about New Zealand any more anyway, and why should they? It hasn't made a good political decision since WWII.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
What the hell is it with New Zealand? I just don't get it. Why are they so different from Australians? It seems to be a much bigger right/left gap than the one between the U.S. and Canada. What sort of people settled New Zealand? Why are they so wacky? They always seem to be the primary weak-link among the English-speaking peoples.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
New Zealand can sink as far as I'm concerned,we don't need it,we grow Kiwi fruit in the states now.

She was right, and that is a good thing. But I'm sure that isn't what she trying to implied.

Clark obviously got a call from the DNC urging her to retract the statement. The last thing the DemocRATS want is to get tagged with the appeasement label after Bush handily wins the Iraq War.
Can you say landslide re-election victory?
