Depressed Dems Let Generals Do Dirty Work |

The New York Times ran a fabulous photo on Tuesday. I have never seen Tom Daschle, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton look so dejected. Daschle is practically looking at his feet. So is Schumer, and Hillary just has a blank look on her face. Jon Corzine is there too, but you can barely recognize him. That's how depressed he looks. |

The headline of the story: "Democrats Keep Their Heads Down While Letting Generals Speak Out." Here's a quote: "Except for a few persistent voices, Democratic lawmakers are holding their tongues now on the war in Iraq, allowing generals to take the lead in challenging Pentagon planners while they avoid taking positions they fear could invite Republican retaliation."
Tom, it's not the Republicans. The Republicans aren't going to retaliate against you. Haven't you heard of the new tone? It's the voters who are going to retaliate against you, Tom. It's the voters who already have retaliated against you. Remember September of last year? It's the same old thing here with these Democrats. They want to rip Bush. They want to rip the plan, but they don't have the guts and the courage to do it, and since these retired generals are doing it on TV, they're content to let the generals do their speaking for them, according to the Times, "Jenny Backus, a Democratic Party consultant with close ties to Congress said Democrats don't need to do any criticism of the Bush administration right now, 'The unnamed generals in the newspapers are doing that job for us.'"
Oh, you guys are brave. You guys are about as courageous as Saddam Hussein and his cohorts over there. Nancy Pelosi was on CNBC's Capital Report on Tuesday night, where she all but admitted that even if all of this turns out great, she's not going to say it was worth it. She will not say they were wrong about it. So seething are they in their hatred for Bush and what he does - it doesn't matter if it's this or some domestic issue - no matter how well it turns out, they will never, ever say it was the right thing to do. She just can't stop her partisanship. She just can't stop being ruled by it. You can hear the sound bites in the audio link below, as well as a call on the subject. The Democrats are actually making a political calculation to benefit politically on the failure of the war. That's unprecedented. |

But, Saddam ran some really, really wild parties, booze, dope, women, and, for many of the dem leaders, boys. They were great parties and the dems loved them. There was also cash, lots of it, unmarked and unreported. Some of Dashole's wife's best clients would attend, as well.
So, with Saddam on his way out, these folks probably are so sad, not only because they are losing a knidred America-hater, but also because of more tangible personal losses.
