I attended college with this Marine and continue to hold him and his family in high regard.

Good job Major. Keep rocking and rolling. We are 100 percent behind you, the troops and especially our Commander In Chief.

The enemy is not stupid and has learned some lessons from the stomping he took last time and has, at times, been fanatical, but this should not be confused with being militarily effective. They have fired lots of ammo, but they are about the worst shots in history in terms of rounds fired compared to actually hitting anything.

Providence? Or just maybe they spent too much time training on the monkey bars and not enough time on the firing range.

The fact of the matter is, we are kicking the snot out of them.

Amen! I'd rather hear that than all the polished oratory in the world.

A Marine's Perspective

Excerpt:

Greetings to all! It's been a while since I could send anything, but here is my update: We are still rocking and rolling over here!

I cannot believe the media's assessment and portrayal of the situation: They make it sound like we are Custer at Little Big Horn! All I can get real time is the BBC on shortwave and I'm about ready to puke at the sound of that liberal, biased blather again. I don't remember them being so sympathetic to the Iraqi cause 12 years ago but it's evidence of the continued erosion of common sense and backbone in the world.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas or General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

It is outrageous that our fighting men in Iraq have to watch propaganda telling them things they know aren't true, and watching anti-war protests. That they feel they have to write letters and e-mails presenting the truth from the front. God bless them, we're behind them all the way, but they wouldn't know that watching the BBC.

We are all so very, very proud of these folks. It really amazes me that the liberal media is still cranking out such garbage. Thank God for Fox News -- surely the imbedded reporters from Fox will get the messages of support back to our troops. They are the very best this world has to offer.

I heard this one today. Saddam and his son were hunkered down with some Republican Guards. A voice in the night yelled "one Marine can kick the butts of fifty republican guards.' Saddam was outraged and told his son to order a platoon to deploy and kill the Marine. The platoon went forth and there was great shooting and yelling for a few minutes. When it quieted down, a voice was again heard by Saddam which said "one Marine can kick the butts of a hundred Republican Guards." Saddam threw his hat on the ground and told his son to send an entire company out to take care of that cocky Marine. Yelling and shooting ensued, but in a few minutes a voice called out and said "one Marine can kick the butts of 500 Republican Guards." Saddam called for a battalion of guards to attack the Marine and teach him a lesson. However, this time he told his son to follow the guard battalion and see what was going on over there. Again there was the usual sound and fury, and in a couple minutes a voice was heard to say "One Marine can kick the butts of 5000 republican guards." Saddam immediately began to gather two regiments to go out there and handle the business at hand. But before he could send them, his son crawled back and said "Oh honorable father, Sodamn Insane, the infidel dogs and pigs lie to you. Don't send any more of our soldiers out to meet them. There are two Marines over there.

The fact of the matter is, we are kicking the snot out of them. For the sake of historical comparison, ponder this: At Normandy, Iwo Jima, Tarawa, etc, hundreds and even thousands of men were dead or wounded before we had even gotten across the beach. Here, we have captured over 1/3 of the entire country, destroyed huge amounts of the enemy's weapons/ammunition, and cost the enemy thousands of men (killed, wounded, captured), at the cost of very few of our own men and women.

This is the good stuff. THIS is what I don't read in the papers or hear on TV... Why not? Why does the media have such a death wish? Are none of their loved ones on the front lines anywhere-- no vested interest whatsoever?

Thanks for the post, sinator... And the ping, bro... I needed that...
