The UN has failed so miserably. Time to pull the plug.

"Koffi Annan just wants to get his greasy paws on some of the good stuff before it's dispersed to the common man. Just a bunch of frickin' thugs at the UN."No,
The frickin' thugs at the UN just want to be sure they have a cause to champion when the shooting stops.
They will trot out the 'lawlesness' under UK control and the 'innocent victims' of US action, they will find something that the Poles did naughty, they will ignore Saddam's decades of crimes; and they will demand their 'proper' role in administering Iraq.
Which, of course, means they want to get their greasy paws on the good stuff.

It sets a bad example for the robber-baron governments of so many other UN member states. Imagine what would happen if the little people realized that the luxuries of the ruling party members actually belong to them. Can't have that. No, no.

Sorry, but although I don't agree with the UN 99% of the time, I don't see how allowing lawlessness is contributing to anything.

Take hope away and things can get ugly very fast. War is a business, right now business is great. Do we really want business to pick up at home?

That's my point, I don't think encouraging street justice is a good thing. I think we should encourage lawful justice.
Weakness is not a virtue, do not attribute goodness to all the civilians in Iraq just because they're all oppressed. Many are good, many are not so good. I guarantee you the looters are among the worst of them, the regular law abiding people of Iraq are not the ones doing the looting.
To: Truthsearcher
It's the poor and truly oppressed who are doing the looting. They are the ones who suffered the most.

Does the Times know who any of these "UN officials" are or is this their own opinion?
To: B4Ranch
No, that's not the way it works. It's always the lawless that loots. I guarantee that the majority of the looters are the local thugs/thieves.

Wasn't that an episode on gunsmoke, or was is the rifleman?
isn't there some kettle and pot talk here?
no offense, just an observation...

Once again, the UN embraces the low moral ground, protecting the Nazis and the SS against those from whom they have taken everything getting anythng back. Pathetic.
