AN IRAQ-AMERICAN TELLS IT LIKE IT IS!
WLS radio ^

If you are a Chicago area resident, you've probably heard about this incident on the Don and Roma call-in show on WLS.
If not, you'll appreciate hearing it and perhaps you'll share it with others. It's quite moving.
Here's what happened.
Don and Roma's son is an F18 fighter pilot (and ex-Blue Angel and local Chicago celeb), who is stationed somewhere near Iraq now.
An antiwar protester emailed Don and Roma stating that he hoped their son would die if the US goes to war against Iraq. It brought tears to Roma's eyes, but she still read this hateful email on the air.
After hearing it read, an Iraqi-American girl called in and this is what she had to say.
Don and Roma are going to replay this file everyday until the war is over.

Angie: Yes...hi...I love listening to your show -- I listen to it all the time. I just want to say that I was born in Iraq and I left Iraq when I was 17 and I came to a country that accepted me for who I am. Iraq never accepted me because of my religion I was a second hand citizen over there because I was Christian. Iraq people are dead. Bush in not kill'en Iraqi people or our troops are not killing Iraqi children -- saddam killed them a long time ago and thank god for Bush.F finally there is a man who can speak for Iraqi children. I know a lot of people will die and that is sad but Iraqi people ARE DEAD. You just don't how bad it is living under that regime. So for those people -- for those Americans who are IGNORANT about what is going on in Iraq please understand Iraqi people are dead; they have no voice; we cannot speak their mind; we cannot practice our religion and this is the only country THANK GOD FOR AMERICA. You just don't know - you should appreciate this country -- you just don't know how lucky you are and you know I am a citizen and I am a proud to be an American. (starts to cry) And shame on those Americans that talk like that about our troops. Shame on them -- Bush never killed anybody -- saddam been killing all these children. I cannot speak my mind because if I speak my mind (starts to really cry) he will cut tongue over there; he will rape our children in front of our eyes; you just don't know how bad it is. SO for those ignorant people PLEASE SHUT UP. Ok -- thats all I have to say. I so proud -- so proud to be an American. Thank you for listening.

Garofulla has three neurons. One is ischemic and the other two are desperatly trying to holding hands. It is amazing that she can actually make vocalizations, much less coherent speech. Forget about being cognitevely intact.

Thank you for the transcript! I heard something like that from an Iraqi-American last weekend on talk radio. A guy called in and through tears and sobs said how horrible the Hussein regime is and how desperately thankful he was to get out of there and how thankful he is that we're going to put a stop to it.

I've taken that sound file and superimposed it over the first two minutes of the theme music from "Saving Private Ryan."
It'll make you weep. "Patriotism swells in the heart of the American bear."
Anyone interested, email me here at homeagain balkansvet with your real Email address and I'll forward you a copy. It's about 3 meg so it'll take a while to download.

I don't think it's possible for the average American to truly imagine the level of fear that one would live under in such a regime. It's sad that so much of the world lives under such despots.
