I was aware Little John's weapon was a BAR. That looked pretty wicked. I was unaware of the other information. Thanks for the comments. This is what I like about the forum, there's always someone around who knows the answers to participant's questions.

Ordinary grunt 'paratroopers', -- regular airborne infantry line company troops, carried the Garand until the M14 was issued.
Officers, support personel, etc, could carry the M1 Carbine.

It was the BAR that killed Bonnie and Clyde. The Thompson's had trouble getting through door panels on some car's so the LEO's asked for a BAR from the Army.
