A front-page article on Tuesday about criticism voiced by American military officers in Iraq over war plans omitted two words from an earlier comment by Lt. Gen. William S. Wallace, commander of V Corps. General Wallace had said (with the omission indicated by uppercasing), "The enemy we're fighting is A BIT different from the one we war-gamed against."

Don't know if this was posted already. In their Corrections page, they basically retracted the story that created a firestorm last weekend

That makes the quote quite a bit different.

This is so typical of the NYSlimes.

figures, now that we have surrounded baghdad and it no longer helps their cause (which was to aid and abet the enemy).

The Times needs to run about 70 years worth of corrections. The liberal line tonight seems to be how much has changed in the past 24 hours, not how inaccurate their coverage was. Pathetic.

From today's New York Times:Correction: Earlier reporting in Eastern Europe omitted mention that millions of people in the Ukraine starved to death in a massive famine precipitated by Joseph Stalin and the Soviet leadership. The Times regrets the error.

"Good catch." Especially as, like all NYT corrections, it wasn't intended to be caught...

Did you see Eagleberger on H&C last night? The Slimes asked him to write an article for them, and they wanted it to be a negative piece about the Bush administration.
He said he refused...

You've got it right; that's about when the whole thing started. And don't forget their take on the killing fields of Cambodia, that it was "cultural arrogance" for us to condemn the way Pol Pot wanted to organize his society. That from resident sage Anthony Lewis. Who came up with that "Newspaper of record" fantasy?

I heard about that and read the threads here. Once again, day after day the old gray lady is being exposed for the liberal shill she is.

Here's an important story on a NYT's "mistake" which created a firestorm.
Might want to fire up the ping list.

What I get from the local paper editor is the press' right to edit submissions. He is right of course as no side, (except God's), has exclusive right to all truth. Maybe an overzealous editor or more likely a purposeful omission designed to generate controversy. Conflict sells papers. Supply and demand folks. The truth will eventually out though. Especially when FReepers are on the case.
