Of course, in our era of hyper-individualism, where we each think about ourselves, and what WE want to say firstI'm not accusing you of being a liberal, so don't take this the wrong way, but as I read your post it occurred to me that one of the problems liberals run into is that they are the kind of people who worry so much about looking out for the other guy that they find it impossible to defend their own causes and cases. If you're busy arguing for the other guy, who's left to argue on behalf of you? I think that hyper-altruistic impulse is one that really permeates American society to its detriment. Me, I find American individualism rather inspiring.

That bothers me.. with the way of the world and the way our common enemies are arrayed, I would expect Catholics, (and other) Christians and Jews to be a very tight knit group.
This does not seem to be the case many times and I don't know if I fully understand why.

Perhaps I did. I don't understand how you can request the word Jesus be blocked from being spoken in a government building, then accept Judeo Christian ideals in that very governments precepts. This seems to be a pretty big conflict.

Theological hair-splitting aside, keep in mind that not all of the 3% in question has any faith in GodNo doubt the same can be said of many who are raised Christian and Muslim, too.

If there was no way to make a prayer that would be acceptable to all involved, I might see your point. But in this case there are points of congruence between Christian, Jew and Muslim.
Even Buddhists and Hindus use the generic term "God" to mean deity.
A prayer to God would have been appropriate.

NO, sorry if I was not clear.
Until a few decades ago --- that is, for almost 1700 years -- the Catholic church held the Jews as a people responsible for the death of Christ. It was not uncommon --- and many pogroms started this way -- for a Christian upon recognizing a stranger to be a Jew to say to him, "You killed Christ." In Central and Eastern Europe, for centuries, Jewish mothers would not let children out during Easter: those reterning from Church where the death of Christ is reenacted during that holiday would often beat any Jew on the way --- because that Jew killed Christ.
This is where "the same 3% that rejected Christ" comes from. So I merely restated what the current Pope finally stated as well: those people are dead.
If one wants to concentrate on the presently living people, then those not believing that Christ was a messiah are now a majority in the Western world, so why continue to concentrate on 3% (Jews, who do not indeed accept that Jesus was the messiah).
Sorry my post was confusing.

Multi-culturalism BUMP .. well put!
The offended Jewish legislators, in particular, are simply adhering to long-standing leftist doctrines of multi-cultural inclusion. The objective here, of course, is not really inclusion or equality, but a veto over the expressions of the majority. So, they are "offended" at the mention of Jesus.

Buddy...
Everyone has to make a personal choice. You may choose to call it "bigotry."
As you wish. I cannot turn away from what I know to be true.

What a judgemental load of garbage! Besides having nothing to do with the argument, your statement is pure anti-Christian hate speech.
I dare you to prove your statement. Please link us to the facts and numbers that validate your nonsense.

You don't need to appologize for them. What they have done will reinforce the perceptions of those weak minded folks who dislike Jews for any reason, but those folks don't need an excuse anyway. If a Christian were doing what they are, I'd oppose it. The only prayer I'll every walk out on, is the one that addresses Satan. Then you'll see nothing but dust in the air where I used to be.

You're doing damage to your fellow Jews by acknowledging guilt and shame for no reasonPerhaps you should be addressing your other fellow Jew. As Mr. Reuben has no understanding of our Constitution.
Ruben, who is Jewish, says the issue is of separation of church and state and also one of simply following the rules.

Answer: there are 2 and only 2 master spirits in this world - Christ's and the anti-Christ's. That's why 'the road is narrow'.
