The Iraqi regime is equipping aircraft with weapons of mass destruction to attack coalition forces that have reached approaches of the embattle Iraqi capital of Baghdad, according to Iraqi opposition sources.
The well-informed sources said the regime prepared several warplanes, including MIGs, Mirages and Sukhois to attack the attacking forces when they reach a certain line close to the heart of Baghdad.
These warplanes are being equipped with chemical and biological weapons to attak the coalition forces in the event they reach some sensitive axes of the city, the sources told KUNA.
They said that Saddam Hussein would order such attack when he feels that his safety is threatened.
The coalition commanders have affirmed that the allied warplanes have supremacy of the skies over Baghdad.

How about the helicopter theory in which helicopters rise from the deep down bunkers in the middle of Baghdad, spraying WMD as they go? They might have a little trouble with all those stairs.

when Saddam gives the order - "Your Excellency, wiggle your little finger if you want us to launch chemical missiles, quiver your big toe if you desire a biological attack using suicide fudd-ayeen... and pass gas if your immenseness needs to use the presidential colon bag again.

And where are these warplanes???? Didn't we take them all out? They still have the balsa wood ones with the rubber band and the big red propeller.

At the beginning of the war a Cessna crashed in the desert. Didn't I read somewhere that Saddam had been acquiring Cessna's and it was thought these would be used to deliver WMD?

But, but Saddam Insane denied he had any of these weapons and Blix didn't think he had them either. Gosh, think they lied? (sarcasm off).

Whenever someone brings up the Iraqi Air Force, I am reminded of the old episodes of MASH with "5 O'Clock Charlie"

The Kuwaitis have been drinking their own bathwater again.
Saddam never had enough planes to lay an effective gas cloud, even before we started destroying them.
They could make a try at biowarfare, but you never know whick way the wind is gonna blow.

I don't know. If what we all hope is true is indeed true, Saddam's safety is beyond any earthly threat.

Regardless of how they release the gas, they very well could release some. My bet is they gas their own people and say we did it. In any event, I'm sure our people are prepared for the worst.

Can we defend the skies 24/7 from chemical laden ultralights in a town of 4-5 million people? (size of Chicago)

IF they're going to use WMD, they better be pretty sure of themselves. They know they will be tried for War Crimes and they know there are plenty of squeelers.

too funny...
however, considering their quirkiness towards shoes, do you think it might be a weaponized Nike Air?

NOT the pigeon wing of the iraq air forces. I've heard rumors the pigeons are prepared to drop their bombs on all vehicles and statues in the area. Please, someone, STOP THE MADNESS. Here are Republican Guard Generals Tweets, Littlefoot, Nibbles, and Major Bopper...

This may be a credible threat. I tend to agree. They could have hidden migs in barns, etc, anywhere in Iraq. And a hard surface road could serve as the landing strip. I don't doubt that at least a few of them could get in the air, and possibly make it to Baghdad before we get them. The flight times are just so short.
But the real question, I think, is whether the pilots are going to be willing to do that. And I'd guess that their command and control is so degraded that it would take them a bit of time to get good targeting information. So we might be able to shoot them down before they deliver anything. Bahgdad has 3 airfields that the Iraqis could strike from. The flight time from those airfield are about 2 minutes before they are over our forces that are converging on Bahgdad.

From what I understand, there are 300 aircraft still on the ground and not all have been destroyed. Only if they plan on trying to fly them will they be destroyed.

We might soon discover that all the chemicals and microbes are being stored in furry little containers kept under the noses of Iraqi men.
