Doesn't surprise me. Not one bit.

I can't help but wonder why we allow these young girls to be sent to the front lines like this. Those sleazy Iraqis are known for rape, brutality, etc. There's also a black lady, to the best of my knowledge who's a POW. Somehow this just doesn't seem right.

I hope scum like Dershowitz who suggested we use torture read this article. Just say no to torture. That is, my friend, why we are better than you.

I bring this up with all respect to all women in and out of the service and with all seriousness.
We now have brave women like her in combat or near combat and as seen they can be captured and be put under unspeakable horrors.
If she was violated, how do we who believe in the sanctity of all life deal with a pregnancy which may result?
Again this is with all respect and this thread may not be the place to discuss this. If this has been discussed before maybe I can be pointed to that thread.

Who gets to play her in the movie? It has to be an actress who is not an anti-war puke. Does any such creature exist?

and then you have THIS guy...
Marine Corps reservist Stephen Funk, center, reads a statement before turning himself in at his reserve unit in San Jose, Calif., Tuesday April 1, 2003. Behind Funk is his sister Caitlin Funk, left, and his mother, Gloria Pacis, right. The 20-year-old Marine reservist, called to active duty, refuses to serve in the Iraqi conflict, claiming conscientous objector status. (AP Photo/Eric Risberg)

Where's the international condemnation? Why isn't the international community DEMANDING that Iraq allow Red Cross workers to visit our POWs?
Hey, Kofi...don't you have something to say about this?

We need this feisty young lass to appear before the Senate and tell her story.
It would be so great to see Daschle and the other traitors there melt down into their seats...
Aside: FR is slow as molasses this AM... anyone else experiencing that? Am I logged on?

Jessica was being tortured. Will THIS bring it home to the left that their espousal of moral equivalence between the Iraqis and us is wrong?

All I will say is the girl has "balls" and stayed true to her Country Commander-In-Chief and the folks of WV. Every American should be proud of this tough little 19 year old country girl from a town that most of would soon forget!

A bit off the track this thread has taken, but I have a question. I don't doubt that the story of her shooting Iraqis is true, but HOW do they know that? Everyone with her was killed or captured. What's the source of that information?

I have several friends who are retired military and who keep in close contact with folks still serving our country. According to what they were told and the very little bit they shared, she was tortured. The rescuers saw the battery and the hook ups next to her bed.
These Iraqis are monsters on the level with the German Nazi's and I hope and pray they are punished appropriately in this world. I know God will take care of the next world.

I have problems with a situation where a 19 year old female feels obligated to fight to the death.
But nobody died and made me God, so I guess we have to accept women being in combat.

What a hero. And let's not forget about that Iraqi guy who risked his life in order to have the Americans save her. Let's bring him here or MAKE SURE HE'S FREE.

The military should be aware of the specifics of her captivity, if for no other reason than to prepare charges for the captors and to prepare to treat other captives.
However, the discussion of the specifics or consequences of her torture or mistreatment plays into the hands of her captors. That is because the reason for her torture or mistreatment by this type of regime is not to actually extract information as some imply. They know there is little to gain from a PFC truck driver of a support unit.
The torture is instead to degrade, dehumanize and and inspire fear in the captive as well as those that person is close to and their entire universe of supporters. The torture of women is often meant to take from them their self-respect and public discussion of specifics facilitates that sort of broken thinking.
The media is a lurid vampire and wouldn't be satisfied with a blunt fact but would instead, feed at thier own bite until they have the most lurid details. I hope she is counciled to say little herself and to let her comrades shine their look of scorn on those living off of such information.

For those that tried to claim "America's Little Sister" wasn't a hero, here's one more reason to say Yes, she is.
