Fox says one tunnel goes all the way to the river.

The layout of Saddam International doesn't appear to lend itself to under-tramac, or under-runway tunnels. There are two terminal buildings, connected by a roadway. A tunnel to river seems odd.

Isn't the swing of topic amazing? Less than 3 weeks ago, concerns about the UN's inaction. Then Bush and Blair set out the future course from the Azores on the 16th, UN scrambled on the 17th, bush gave Saddam 48 hours, and he wasn't kidding. Now we are talking about the tunnels under an Iraqi airport!

Maybe it's for transporting goods. The river is navigable, yes??

I suspect "to the river" simply means "as far as the river", not meaning there is necessarily an exit there. I will believe this is simply a transport tunnel toward central Baghdad until otherwise reported.

The important tunnels are not going to be this easy to access, especially with all the rubble of those "Palaces" blocking the entrances.
