I had my kids convinced that barney and teletubbies wouldn't work on our tv.
The tooth fairy forgot to come last night, and I convinced my daughter that the TF is off on Wednesdays because she has to count all the teeth...

Your post about Barney reminded me about 10 years ago I fainted, cut my head had to go to the emergency room to get sewn up. (I'm incredibly clumsy) In the next bed was a baby who kept screaming and parents couldn't figure out why and the doctors couldn't figure out why so they sang that "I love you, you love me" song and no joke, the baby calmed down.

PLUS, when I was little my parents convinced me that Santas Village (Christmas themed amusment park in the Chicago area) wasn't real even though commercials ran for it constantly.

When I was a child, we lived on a small lake. The washing machine drained directly into the lake, leaving dirty suds. My mom told us kids it was "snake spit." We never played in the dirty suds!

I gotta remember these - I've a six year old and I'm no where near as creative as you are... however, she is pretty skeptical and a common statement of hers is, "Daddy, you're joking, aren't you... I can tell." (she can... I hope it lasts when I'm trying to get through to her about the dimbulb demodogs)
