Does anyone know what the deal is with those Iraqi mystery ships that Britain and the U.S. discussed prior to the war beginning?

There was much discussion in the news that several freighters were trolling the seas and not putting into any ports...Generally maintaining radio silence. Speculation was that these ships were carrying banned weapons and other incriminating evidence - Since they apparently left Umm Qasr just as UNMOVIC was arriving.

It seems that now would be the perfect time to board these vessels for a "safety inspection."

I read an article in the Israeli media saying that Jack Straw on BBC Radio said that Coalition forces will not attack Syria or Iran.

What a bunch of crap. Even though Syria is supplying the regime of Saddam Hussein with weapons, England goes out and states that it has no intention on using force against Syria. Well then, I guess that makes Syria feel better, and will probably increase their supplies.

What's more, let us not forget that the syrian terrorist dictator was hosted in Britain a few months ago by Tony Blair.

If you want to deal with terrorists you must have policies directed at ALL terrorists.

Saying you will not attack a terrorist state even though it is supplying weapons to an enemy of yours is stupid, even if you don't have any intentions of attacking it. That will INCREASE the aid.

Straw says he "hopes" they will not give aid to Iraq.

Give me a break.

This is embarrassing, but I apparently made a major mistake in the body of the thread.

Can you please correct my typo in the first line?

Just heard on CNN... (as reported by anchor)

An Iraqi rescued was asked now that Saddam's regime is on it's way out, what do you expect to see happen?

He replied: "Demococracy, whiskey and sexy."

Probably someone has posted this already, but the Fox crawl said that Jessica Lynch had not eaten in 8 days at the time of her rescue! No wonder she looked so emaciated!

Some "hospital"...

George W. Bush Inaugural Address {EXCERPT]
January 20, 2001

After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: ``We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?''

Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.

We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.

Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.

This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.

These reporters and the media don't seem to realize: For every ounce of info they have, the Pentagon/President/CENTCOM have a ton. Those reporters don't realize it, but they are like kindergartners questioning a PhD Dissertation.

Well, these briefings are wonderful. These journalist go out of their way each morning to provide us such entertainment and comic relief from the war. Previous generations had the 3 Stooges and Soupy Sales. Aren't we lucky to be seeing the Greatest Generation in Action (liberating Afghanistan first, now Iraq) and have the Journalists Daily Comedy Sideshow. We are truly blessed.

First person account of shootdown.
I checked my fraternity message board this am because one of my younger fraternity brothers flies F-18's off the Kitty Hawk (he's a Cornell University Psi Upsilon, so liberal Ithacans can shove it). Many of us were concerned it was him but here is all he could say about it. He implies he was a wingman. Scary.

Thanks for the concern ole buddy. It wasn't me but I saw it happen. I am still here killing the enemy.

Thanks for all the e-mails over the past month. The support from all of you has meant a lot. I have been extremely busy so I apologize if I have not gotten back to each one of you. Have to go fly...

ITB,
R
