The Iraqi information minister has said that reports the coalition troops are near Bagdad are totally ridiculous.

Like he'd know. He's probably in Damascus himself.

Pappy, I can hear with the volume turned WAY UP on msnbc's bagcam. Someone is talking faintly, there are the ever present horns, and about 20 minutes ago a few good booms.

The only thing I don;t like with the MSNBC cam is that I have to turn the sound up so loud to hear it, I give myself a coronary everytime I get mail!

First person account of shootdown.
I checked my fraternity message board this am because one of my younger fraternity brothers flies F-18's off the Kitty Hawk (he's a Cornell University Psi Upsilon, so liberal Ithacans can shove it). Many of us were concerned it was him but here is all he could say about it. He implies he was a wingman. Scary.

Thanks for the concern ole buddy. It wasn't me but I saw it happen. I am still here killing the enemy.

Thanks for all the e-mails over the past month. The support from all of you has meant a lot. I have been extremely busy so I apologize if I have not gotten back to each one of you. Have to go fly...

ITB,
R

Pvt Lynch gave a good accounting for herself, her nation, and her training. Don't mess with an American, no matter the size, age or sex. We are the fiercest warriors ever seen.

And yet we share our water and rations with those we take prisoner. This stuff really chokes me up.

Our Jessica is truly a hero. An example of our well trained, highly disciplined troops. And she's a survivor too. She hung in there, injured and without eating for possibly 9 days I was reading somewhere.

May she live a long and happy life.

I don;t want to see the statue bombed or shot by one of our tanks. I want to see Iraqi's climbing it and shoving it over - ala the Lenin statues in 1989.

Iraqi Minister says we're not near Baghdad!

Tell the Minister to open the curtains!! That big Cheerio you see is the end of a "big" gun attached to a big tank.

I pray for her safe and secure future.

Re: The normal appearing traffic in Baghdad. Some have speculated that the regime is staging this as a business as usual tactic to propagandize the Iraqi people. Also with communications basically non-existant, taxis and other vehicles may be used as government couriers.

One of the hosts of a radio show (Rick & Bubba out of Birmingham, AL) described to his co-host some of the details of Pvt. Lynch's capture. He mentioned that she shot several Iraqi's, continued firing until she was out of ammo, and then got into a wrestling match with the enemy resulting in stab wounds. He painted a picture of a WV wildcat, it was great. He concluded by saying these heroics were performed by a 19 year old Marine supply clerk. It reminded me of the movie Under Siege when the Playboy playmate was told by Segal that he was just a cook.

Pvt. Lynch is a true American hero.

Then, she apparently went 9 days without anything to eat before she was rescued. And Rick Leventhal whined a few days ago because he only got 1 MRE that day. Sort of puts things in perspective, doesn't it.

Our word is our bond, and even in a country of totally oppressed people they have gotten the word and they know enough of America and American's to trust us when we say we will not harm them.

I would say that depends. GWB seems to be good for his word. We let the Iraqi's down in 1991.

You can bet the leaders of other countries has definite resepct for what GWB says.
