ABU AL KHASIB, Iraq (CNN) -- A torture chamber equipped with hooks hanging from ceilings and an on-site electrocution room has been found in the basement of an Iraqi police station, an embedded reporter with the BBC reports.

The reporter said the British Royal Marines from Alpha Company 40 Commando entered the facility -- home to Saddam Hussein's dreaded internal security police -- looking for clues about local militia groups.

If people like this DON'T have WMD, I'd be very surprised.

I'm sorry, some of these articles just hit home a little harder.

Aren't we all on the same side here? ;-)

Not sure - you're a 'Tax Chick' and, well, I hate Taxes ;0)

It's finding Jessica Lynch--and then finding out they found 11 bodies nearby. It's reading this story. It's just finding out that a Blackhawk went down near Karbala with seven dead and four wounded. It's been a grueling day, and we're not the troops in the field or the people in charge.

A good night's sleep will help.

Just try and look at the positive side - That Torture Chamber is now empty - and, if we do it right, will never be used again...

"I'm from Oklahoma, the center of the universe"

That's not what he said. What he said was, "I'm from Oklahoma... (Pause, while eating a big ol' piece of Pizza Hut Pizza) ...the cultural center of the universe."

Before he said that, he said, "I wouldn't marry a woman who didn't like Pizza Hut pizza. I might play golf with her, but I wouldn't marry her."

well, I hate Taxes

I hate 'em, too. Ask me about the Alternative Minimum Tax, then duck! But I think armadillos are just the cutest thing :-).

But seriously, I'm sorry I made light even on the periphery of a terribly serious topic. I'm as nauseated by the Iraqis as any of you. I devoutly hope that George W, Rummy, and our heroic troops will eliminate this disgusting regime, plow them under, salt the earth, before my children are old enough to volunteer. My boys want to be Marines already!

I've been having bad dreams about all this. It's been hard sleeping, and not knowing what will happen in Baghdad as we get closer, that has many of us on edge. And the personal connection many of us have to our military.

Chad, what bothered me is that this was one police station in one small town. Knowing what we know about Saddam, this scenario is probably repeated across the country. It made me firmer in my resolve in support of this war, to get rid of Saddam and his regime, and to get these people out from under the Butcher of Baghdad.

After hearing this, I wonder what all the anti-war protestors are thinking when they protested the removal of the beast Saddam.

"The man also said a citizen who committed a crime could avoid being tortured by putting up cash -- about $1,600 for stealing, and almost twice that for murder, according to the BBC reporter."

Is this what they call Islamic Law?

I'm amazed CNN is reporting this.

If I hear just one single word more about the treatment of detainees at Gitmo, I'm gonna go ballistic.

Dozens and dozens of Iraqi national identity cards were spread across the chief of police's abandoned large oak desk.

All of them were men, aged between around 20 and 50 - people's sons, husbands, brothers, or fathers.

In Saddam Hussein's Iraq, it is a crime not to carry these identity cards wherever you go, a crime punishable by imprisonment.

And idiots here in this country want us to have a national ID card to carry around too......remember that!

More and more horrors will be uncovered before it gets better - but, the good news is, it WILL get better - some rough days ahead, for all of us, but none more-so than our men and women who uncover this stuff - Many will see these things for the rest of their lives...

And, you Catspaw, said that seeing this stuff has helped strengthen your resolve in support of this war - I would imagine it will also do a lot to strengthen the already firm resolve of our men and women that are over there right now, too. The more they see, the less likely they will be to ask "Why are we here?" - as the "anti-war" protesters demand the war stop, they will be further marginalized as the evil of the Ba'ath Party is exposed - they will be unable to plant that seed of doubt into the minds of the american public, and our returning troops will not be abused, belittled, or scorned...

Anyway, my two cents, for what it's worth...
