I'm a west-coaster, and I don't get home from work until 7:00pm. I rely on the repeats of my favorite shows (O'Reilly at 8:00pm (PST), Brit Hume at 9:00pm, Hannity at 11:00pm). However, with the 24/7 war coverage, they are not repeating the prime time shows, so I haven't seen the regular shows since the war began.

Why don't we all e-mail FOX News and urge them to create another FNC - one that runs LIVE all the time (perhaps they could tap into Sky News), and another FNC running the regular shows, and re-running them on their usual schedule. Somewhat on the idea of CNN and CNN Headline News.

There is a scene in the (yuck) Ted Turner-produced movie, "Rough Riders" (which is quite good) where "Bucky O'Neill," played by Sam Elliot, was teaching the Rough Riders to charge strawmen with their bayonets and he has to ride one guy to get him to run the strawman through. He turns to a shaken observer and says "It takes a lot to get a man to throw another man down." (i.e., kill him).

This is the western way of war that Victor Davis Hanson has described in which, ironically, BECAUSE the western nations (now, primarily the U.S., Britain, and Australia) value life so much, they fight with such effectiveness and to utter, total conclusions.

Killing does not come easily to a free man in a democratic society: it must be pounded in, trained in, for that moment which each must face. Once it is in there, though, when combined with western approaches to war and capitalist production, western armies are DEVASTATING.

I tell you, it was sobering, all of the upbeat aspects of it with regards to our brave soldiers aside. it was sobering and scary, that kind of power must remain only in the hands of a responsible and moral people (and leaders who reflect that).

I agree. I saw a young soldier interviewed at the front last night. He looked shocked and even a bit sad as he told of the hopeless charges being made against their positions by the ill equiped Iraqis as our forces mowed them down. I'm not suggesting our soldiers do anything else or endanger themselves through pity, but many of these Iraqis are surely charging because they know their families will be shot, or worse, if they don't fight.

I hope the lesson we Americans learn from this is to NEVER let OUR government get our of the control of its citizens.

Did you catch this on O'Reilly tonight? Amazing. I wonder how CNN, pMSNBC and ABCCBSNBC will spin it... Yes I was stunned when I heard the news. How will the media spin this -- they won't! We all know they'll never report anything which credits this administration or our brave troops.

Thanks for sharing that story, I was out on 15th Street in MWC, having Chinese food. I tell you I wanted to salute these guys and gals, didn't know if it was proper, but what the heck, maybe next time I will.

I want to see a week long ticker tape parade for them, not for just the brass this time. They are just awesome, sure give me hope for my future when I see these young men and women doing this job. After all the years of seeing the long funky green/red/purple haired, pierced body, missfits, and the hollyweird crowd, that ever thought they had a voice that we were interested in, this is so refreshing, there is hope.

I meet my daughter on Monday and Wednesday as she is at Rose State to get her gen ed (math/science) out of the way and will be at OU next fall.

Have you noticed that most of the restaurants don't have the number of military they usually have? The deployments have taken a toll with the number of people from what I can tell. We don't have to wait to get a table!
