United States Special Forces Operations are said to have blown up an Iraqi Oil Pipeline that delivered more than 200,000 barrels of oil per day to Syria.

(at a profit of 2 million a day for Saddam Hussein exempt from the United Nations oil for food programme)

The Kuwaiti paper reported on Wednesday that United States forces sabotaged the Iraqi oil line to Syria last week in an operation in Northwestern Iraq.

The newspaper quoted United States forces as saying that the forces also blew up a railroad link between Iraq and Syria.

The United States sources said that the destruction of the main pipeline came amid a warning from US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for a halt to Syrian Military supplies to the regieme of Saddam Hussein.

The newspaper reported that on Monday the pumping station on the Iraqi side of the pipeline had broken down

Doesn't make sense.....you don't need to blow up a pipeline..you just turn a valve....let alone the ecological damage....and you don't wreck a railline...you just put a platoon of tanks around a key point....we're NOT destroying infrastructure..

My guess is they turned it off, and then blew out a few sections just for fun.

Syria has been playing hardball for some time now, but the U. S. has arrived fully suited up and supplying our own equipment for the game.

Makes sense to me - Syria is a rogue state - little more than a collection of organized terrorists - this indicates our intention of severing, not interrupting, the link between Iraq and Syria - the future Iraq as seen by the coalition does not have room for direct econmic ties with the Security Council Terrorist Infiltrators.

I think there may be some leeway on what constitutes 'blowing up' a piple line/ railroad.

Simply making a bridge unoperable could be destrying the railroad.

Turn off a valve, blow up a pump station. Blow a bridge just as enemy reinforcements attempt to cross. They don't know who did this. Could be partisans out there.

It is from Abu Dhabi. No, it is not true. Its just more propaganda. We may have halted the flow and we may have stopped the trains but we didn't destroy them.

exactly - this report is questionable ... it doesn't make sense. If we are trying to protext the infrastructure, why not just shut the pipeline off, and remove a track or two from the railroad. Something smells of "anti-americanism" in this report.

You are correct, of course. If you plan on using them again.
If you don't want the rail line and pipeline to be used again at all, ever bomb them. Which is very possible.

Remember this is a direccted link to SYRIA we are discussing, not an open pipeline to the gulf.

All your oilwells belong to us!!!!!!!!

Watch the Boy President straighten up his act.

This guy is a clown. Not like his Old Man at all. The Old Man was a f%#king butcher. The city of Hama went into open revolt back in the early eighties. Old Man Assad surrounded the city with field artillery and leveled the town. 20,000 died. There was never a revolt in Syria again.

The Boy President tries to be as tough as Dad, but he just falls short. I mean, look at this little turd...

He looks as if he should be selling Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners door to door. Bashar reminds me of the CIA guy behind the Brown's Fried Chicken Urban Legend: he's the guy who put a chemical in Brown's Fried Chicken to make black men impotent.

Look at the receding chin. Trust me, this guy will fold up like a cheap card table the minute Bush so much as growls at him. Thankfully, we've stopped whining about what we're going to do to him and actually have whipped him an ass without talking about it. You'll see the Syrians come down on the "Solidarity Jihadists" in short order.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
