[snip]They said they often heard the screams of other prisoners being tortured and saw some with their eyes and faces bloodied and swollen.

''There were beatings and torture going on outside our cells, in the corridor, literally,'' McAllester said. Other inmates hobbled around, apparently because the soles of their feet had been burned or otherwise injured.

Now I must go find some fifth world nation to subjugate...

Spoken like a true imperialist. Were it not that more of the world were under the diplomatic, colonial and economic thrall of that most well managed, efficient nation of France.

I read how she had disappeared from her hotel room a couple of days after she was gone. It was part of a thread right here on FR. Her boyfriend was one of the last to get out of Baghdad.

I doubt that her daddy's money saved her. I think if the war had gone badly for the Coalition and we left, I think Saddam's son would have paid a visit to her jail cell. I think the same thing would have happened to Pvt. Lynch.

How about - more like Stalin, Mao, Castro, and a host of others? The liberal world has been deliberately blind to all these tortures.

I saw that too...and it looked like he had a red circle around the right eye, similar to what you would get if you were punched.

Heard her this afternoon. She said she knew someone saw her leave the hotel and they would be looking for her.

All I can say is she's one lucky person. I can't imagine being in a prison where chopping people up is the norm.

Heard the Newsday reporter say that he and his cohort had 'pushed the envelope' in Iraq. As if that was an excuse for being kidnapped and jailed. Said he had discussed it with his editor and they felt they could get the real story if they went to Baghdad and spoke with the Iraqi people. THESE PEOPLE ARE DERANGED, AND I JUST DON'T MEAN THE IRAQI'S

"Pushing the envelope" does mean taking chances with your life so I guess I can cut the guy some slack for the comment.

Here's hoping he finally understands what evil is.

I learned as a kid and I will never disarm myself.

I hope he wasn't using the phrase, pushing the envelope, as an excuse for his treatment by the Iraqi's.

*SNGGGGGG*
You're trying to get me to chuckle myself to death.
You're plotting against me...
You can't have my fifth world nation, it's mine.
/joke.

Been taking a break from the news for a day or two.
NPR ran a hitpiece on their local station here and I just about blew out an anyeurism.
