Sorry for not being clearer. This report was made on air, not the website. They will likely repeat the account. Bloom is on the air frequently for extended comments tonight. I find these reports from the embedded reporters inside Iraq the most compelling of everything broadcast. As obnoxious as MSNBC reporting is otherwise, this provides direct observation of forces in the combat sphere and I hope the cable stations realize that they should have this on air as much of the time as possible. I wonder if others find it to be compelling as well.

former Russian military officers are advising the Iraqis on how to fight American forces.

"Listen, Saddam, Bubalinka, this is how we lost the Afghanistan proxy war with the Americans, and this is how we lost the Cold War with the Americans."

Best news I've heard tonight, and there has been some terrific news.

Faulty equipment and sub-par military advisors will only hasten saddam's demise.

Ok, that's it. I'm scared now!

French nightvision goggles have pop-up white flags on each temple. For emergency use incase their drawers are too soiled to wave. :-)

"It seems to me, we should not lose sight of the fact that socialism is the principal motivating factor behind the worldwide protest movement, the Democratic Party, and the four countries that acted as the principal opponents to our Iraq policy: Russia, France, Germany and Red China"

I agree with you completely. Socialism is a major factor behind the hatred for President Bush and America. America is an impediment to world socialism. This is also why the UN is typically so anti-American.

Misleading title. It reads like the French and Russian governments are supplying military advisors when the Iraqis are buying stuff and hiring private consultants.

This just appeared _again_ on the Today show (7:12 AM April 2) with a live report from Bloom. Matt Lauer specifically asked Bloom about this...I think NBC scents a scoop and a story here and won't want to let this go for a while. Hehe...if this is the case, watch for more on this story. If the U.S. likes it, there will be sympathetic leaks from CIA/DOD to bolster the story.

My bet is Chinese "advice" is buried in there also.....

Remember that during the Clinton years we basically opened up our storehouse of military / technological knowledge to the Russians and the Chinese as we openly invited Chinese/Russian military - diplomatic - scientific people on our bases, into our high tech and top secret centers, and gave them huge amounts of information which no doubt is coming in handy for the Iraqi's at this moment.

This "open door" policy to the friends of our enemies should be shut down immediately.

Scary thought. The Rus bled the Wermacht/SS Divisions white with an in depth defense at Kursk back in 1943. I doubt there is serious connection, if at all, but frightening none the less.

Why else bet on a presumed losing horse (like Russia is with Iraq)-- than that you have insider information that the horse will, in fact, win?

>>Wouldn't it be funny if they had hired the French for advice on how to fight?<<

Let's see:

1) Overestimate your abilities-check

2) Underestimate your enemy-check

3) Stay in fixed positions while the enemy maneuvers-check

4) Then advance to untenable positions and be destroyed-check

5) Issue fantastic press releases while having no idea of what's going on-check

6) Run away-today or tomorrow?

The entire Weygand-Daladier plan has been revived!

Relax. The German tanks didn't have enough petrol or B1's, B2's, B52's with precision bombs or J-stars and GPS or Abrams, etc., etc.

Nor did they have daisy cutters.

Amid the fighting, residents waved white flags.

That definitely proves they've been getting advice on military strategy from the French.

Considering how well the Russians did in Afghanistan, we ought to send them a thank you note.
