Has Hannity 86ed David Hackworth
My fertile mind | 4/1/03 | Me

Has Sean Hannity axed his daily updates by Col. Hackworth?

If not he should. I would bet good money he is the unnamed Col. calling Rumsfeld "McNamarra Redux" cited in The New York Times, and questioning the war srategy. He has shown his disdain for Rummy in the recent past. But I bet he didn't go into detail unless under the condition of anonimoty with the times in order to preserve his talk show circuit gig during the war. He seeks relevancy when his time is long past. He hasn't served since Vietman. He has been long been a critic of the brass at the pentagon going back to Desert Storm. Possibly due to his retirement without stars on his shoulders. He was outspoken on his opposition to the war for strategic reasons. He said that our troops lacked proper training for chem and bio-warfare. The attack has far too well for him as he has been proven wrong over and over again.

Hackworth is a hack.

86 it refers to a prohibition era NYC speakeasy's emergency exit strategy. The speak was located downtown (I forget which street). It was number 88. There was a secret passage through the basement to number 86. When the law came around people 86'd it.

"I hate to say this, but this administration has made us all into a laughing stock of the world."

"Us"??

Why don't you get yourself on an Air France jet and beg the French to stop laughing at you.

You say you are not liberal but you certainly seem to have swallowed everything that the "ultra liberals" are doing and saying!! I mean France, Euro-weenies and Chretien? Give me a break. You don't know what a gem you have.

I remember reading after his arrest in Fl during the 2000 Pres. election, people referred to him (Shep) as being g*y. He doesn't come across that way to me.

I don't know how to post pics here but take a look at this. Maybe it's a joke but I can't picture him with tatoos all over his arms. What do you think:

Shep tickles me with that gleam in his eye when he lets slip some off remark. All I can think of is what a load of trouble his parents got - I've got one like him only he is a tad older than Shep, I no longer worry about him, I let his wife do that :)

Speaking from experience I can tell you that a retired Col. is about as worthless as teets on a boar hog. These guy are useless, lackluster "commanders" that are put in charge of desk outfits commonly known as "admin", or "supply". These guys are never invited to the real planning and strategy meetings, and never make it to General, they then see the light and retire.

My old C.O. was a "Full Bull"(Bird Col.) He was due to retire just about the time I came up to be discharged. We had a "star" party for him when he was promoted to Brigader General. He had 6 months left before retirement. A good soldier and a fine commander. We called him "Pop", not to his face, of course, but we loved that man none the less.

When I see the "network military advisors" I pay close attention to their retired rank, it gives an insight as to what they really know.

”I am not a liberal, I am an independent and a free thinker. I hate to say this, but this administration has made us all into a laughing stock of the world. I would not have thought too much about it if we had a few demonstrations here in our country, but when they start demonstrating all over the world against us that is a different story then. When we can't even take control of a country that is no larger than California then something is wrong. We are suppose to have all kinds of technology and other equipment and all they have is worn out equipment that is years old and we still drag this war on. Either the military forces are not trained properly or their commanding officers have never seen a war before or the administration is crazy.

I don’t often take umbrage with fellow freepers but your statement about this administration making us a laughing stock around the world, tells me you have been blind sided by a great many anti-American folks around the world. It isn’t the liberation of Iraq they decry, it is a man who up-holds his oath of office and does just what his constitution and those laws tell him to. He is a President who can lead, America comes first with George Bush and socialists don’t like that one little bit. Bill Clinton was a socialist and so is most of Europe and Asia. The United Nations loved him because America came last and the UN came first with Clinton giving great chunks of the US to foreign concerns from national security to our National Parks. There was always something in it for Bill and the DNC.

Our National image was soiled and our foreign relations strained to the breaking point by Clinton appeasement on all fronts so he would not get bad press. North Korea is one of his worst foreign relation experiments and now they have the upper hand. President Bush has been criticized for not traveling more over seas; the President understands the logistics, cost to the taxpayer and military, it is in the millions. He travels light but Bill and Hillary Clinton took us to the cleaners, $40 –50 million on many of their junkets, creating untold havoc for the military who must oversee those trips. The worn out equipment you mention is the direct result of the Clintons dislike for anything military. They reduced our preparedness by some 80%. They decimated the war-machine that Reagan put in place for America. They not only spent DOD funds for their travels and the travels of Ron Brown’s commerce dept., they disemboweled the military; thousands of military families were on food stamps during the Clinton years. – all but Air Force One & Two, they were kept at the ready 24 hours a day. The Clintons could have cared less and the socialists loved it because the money just rolled on to appease one more dictator or Socialists regime. President Bush is well respected among those who count and those who recognize character and leadership and integrity.

The world recognizes Peace through Strength and they Know President Bush is a man of his word. Those that are griping are truly unhappy that the US gravy train has slowed down to a trickle; that they are indebted to Iraq for oil contracts. The United States is now being managed by adults.

Radical G., I suggest you read before you parrot the popular chants, popular for empty-headed fuzzy thinkers who think FREEDOM is just a word.

By the way, some more parroting, ”...country that is no larger than California Well in fact California has 269,233 square miles of land and Iraq has 325,460 square miles of land, mostly sand. Read my dear, if you’re such an independent thinker, shore up that stand with facts. .

The reason this war isn't "over" is because our government continues to try to avoid as many civilian casualties as possible. Evil people don't understand that concept.

On the other hand, I don't consider myself "evil". If it were me, I'd give fair warning and then blast those cities to kingdom come. I'd give our critics something to REALLY think about ... don't mess with Texas OR the United States.

I believe this war isn't worth the death of a single American. That's another reason I'd blast those cities to hell and back.

Then the smart ones who fled to the desert could be set up in nice homes in new cities with a democratic government.
