SEVERAL people were wounded when a US warplane bombed two Iraqi buses carrying international volunteers, some of them American, who were operating as "human shields", Information Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahhaf said.

I would not doubt these weren't human shields. They were militants on their way from Jordan. If they were human shields they were executed by the Iraqis. But, it looks like only the Arabs Nations are "concerned" about our barbarism. Seems Saddam went too far this time.

I agree, and I had to laugh out loud this morning listening to the Iraqi Spin minister repeating over and over that they shot AMERICANS! As if that should matter to him one bit, even he was making it out to be far worse that Americans were shot than anyone else... lol

To me the "human shields" were just fulfilling their destiny and being targets are what they came for...good they weren't disappointed!

Since these "human shields" were supposedly killed by an aerial explosive - either a bomb dropped from a plane or a missile - the Americans pulling the switch didn't realize, at that very considerable distance, that one of the people among a cluster of Saddam supporters was an American (or Swede or Belgian or whatever).

A very unfortunate fact, but very true, is that the way to stop the use of human shields - to stop volunteers from helping the enemy or stop the enemy from forcibly putting innocent people in harm's way - is to make it very clear that those people don't even slow us down, and the time and energy spent putting them in our path is time wasted.

Human shield buses hit by US planes -Iraq minister

BAGHDAD, April 1 (Reuters) - U.S. warplanes attacked two buses bringing American and European peace activists to Baghdad from neighbouring Jordan, Iraq said on Tuesday.

Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf told a news conference the injured were being treated in a hospital near the Jordanian border. He gave no more details of casualties.

"Yesterday an American warplane attacked two buses on the highway between Amman and Baghdad with foreign passengers, among them Americans," Sahaf said, adding later that Europeans had also been on board.

"These were human shields who were coming to Baghdad to be deployed...many of them were injured and taken to hospital at Rutba," he said. "The brave Americans start shooting Americans."

Hundreds of Western activists poured into Baghdad before the war to show their support for the Iraqi people in the weeks leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of the country.

Some of them set up camp in power stations and water plants around the Iraqi capital in a bid to dissuade U.S. military commanders from targeting the facilities.
