Great! Jack Straw speaks so clearly and lays it out in even ways the press should understand (but refuse to report correctly).

I do the same. Once the Centcom transcript comes out, the reporters with the worst questions get an email from me. I have to pick the worst of the worst, otherwise I would be emailing all day.

Just watched the CENTCOM briefing. I can only remember one question that related specifically to the war progress and that was the question regarding the movement of the RG and whether or not we know if they have any intelligence that gives them info on our movements and position. I didn't hear who it was when he said his name and affiliation, but it sure looked like the Fox reporter that is at CENTCOM.

These questions from the other reporters are so stupid. Do they really expect that in a time of war, there will be no civilian casualties? Are they really that blind that they can not see that the majority of the civilian casualties are due to tactics being used by the regime? I don't thnk they are that blind, I just think they have an agenda and are hell bent on achieving their objective which is much different than liberating Iraq.

Morning All

My Post #269 from last night

I wish they would let this story chill out..they've been on it since Monday mid day. War is hell and waving a vehicle to stop is universal sign language. There are a reported 4000 hostiles pouring over the borders to help kill Americans. Troops have had several check point incidences already. Why can't the American public accept for one moment that a female is just as capable of committing terror crimes as a man? Also possible that the driver (I assume a female) was forced to do what she did to make some effective Iraqi propaganda? Hell, we don't know, but this story is damaging to troops who are watching cable news: it may cause them to hesitate the next time. Linda Vester and now Lori Duh are picking it apart by saying things like; "surely the guys will ALWAYS have second thoughts about what they've done?" It's a new day, maybe with things moving as fast as they are, the news channels should rotate a story once it's 12 to 24 hours old. It's over, it's sad, but a check point stop with three warnings is just that.

(^; Have to log off this morn. Repairman coming. Fire safety tip for busy Freepers: when cleaning out dryer lint traps - stick the vacuum hose down there every few years (where's the warning label when you need it, heh). Just a bit smokey here...no damage. Counting blessings (and reading the instructions) here on a COLD Fla. morn. See ya soon.

Jack saying that 1 1/2 million Afghanis who fled into exile have returned and are helping reconstruction. This is our aspiration in Iraq.

Good advice, Ragtime Cowgirl. I know three people who have had serious fire damage due to built up lint in dryers.

I think a huge percentage of the public realizes that. The liberal media is banging drums but not many people are marching.

That's another under-reported story. The number of expatriot Iraqis who want to return and are returning to help their country recovery from 30+ years of the regime.

Read an article the other day that our Special Forces have been training young, male Iraqi expatriots to fight this war. Training has been going on for a year.

I believe Jack Straw is to Britain what Collin Powell is to the US. We call ours Sec of State, I think Jack is Foreign Minister. I'm sure FReepers will correct that if it is wrong.

I think quite a few Americans would rather see us cause more civie casualties than put our own men in danger by making them wear kid gloves.

Sky showed a video of one Iraqi expat who became an American, joined the military and is now the translator fighting in the frontlines. Great story!

There was a program on a little while back. It was about 10 years old but it was a forum on soldiers and making a decision to shoot. One of the bottom lines was that it is the soldier, at that point in time, MUST make a decision whether there is a threat to his life or his troops.

We have no idea of what those people in that truck were doing. There may have been just one bad egg in the truck, the driver, and the others were victims of the driver. There are many women over there dependent on that big paycheck from Saddam that their RG husband brings home and who are anti-american.

We certainly don't know what happened but the brutality of Saddam and his forces is well known. We also know the goodness of our troops.
