My husband and I discussed such events.
Americans are raised on a diet of horror films and brutality on television, let alone video games, every day.
By the time we are in our teens, we are immune to atrocities because we've seem them every day.
What we do to each other via violence, robbery, rape, etc., while small in numbers in ratio to population, no longer gets newspaper coverage any more. Hell, what brother vs. brother did to each other during the Civil War is well documented and horrible.
My point is: Iraqis and anyone else can't do to us what we haven't already done to each other, so that has got to scare the living crap out of them. We are not afraid and can't be intimidated. We won't attack the innocent - we will only attack and destroy the enemy, and we know the difference between the two.
Each and every atrocity won't be met with helter skelter murder of innocents, but rather a patient and white hot hate bent on revenge. Closer and closer each day. Looking around the corner, watching with night vision goggles. We're creeping in the dark to get them. We are the boogie man.

Hope the soldier's family never sees any pictures of his gruesome death. God bless him and his family!

This is from your above link:
Having entered the town, the Marines searched without success for the body of a colleague who was killed last week and whose corpse was believed to be in a hospital in the town.
This is from Reuters. The article posted above (and another posted earlier) is from French AFP, which is also now trumpeting the "mass civilian casualties."
I'll believe the AFP report when it corroborated by a reliable source.

"Yup. unpleasant as it may be, and as painful as it may be for the family...maybe this sort of thing needs to be documented with photographic evidence. Show the world what this regime is all about.
And then hunt down the people that did this, try them, and execute them"
I agree that this needs to be shown world-wide to shame those who maintain Iraq is the heavenly host.. I suspect that if it can be used to embarass the anti-protest groups the family would find it justified.

I find this behavior abominable so if you choose to flame the following, then go take a long hike off a short pier.
It is traditional in Arab cultures to mutilate the dead of their enemies. Historically, the women and children were sent on the battlefield to torture and kill the wounded and strip, loot, and mutilate the dead. This is just another of the 'endearing' qualities of a 'culture' that would have their foot on the neck of humanity.
In addition to being evil, these 'people' are barbarians in every, loathsome sense of the word.

There are going to be some very irate members of Uncle Sam's misguided children looking to SMITE ...as in biblical scale annihilation those who are responsible for that act.

"...If we weren't positive the Hussein regime was this bad, we wouldn't be in this for the kill. "Exactly. That is why we're over in Iraq.
A regime as ruthless as this, would one day spray Israel and the US with biological weapons.
God Bless President Bush.
Yes, our president made the right decision in this war.

...Why did Friends of HILLARY...
...ABC-NBC-CBS News Anchors BROKAW, RATHER and JENNINGS not lead tonight on TV with our U.S. Military's great rescue of our wounded female POW in Iraq..?
...Could it be female HILLARY's run for the Presidency in 2004..?
...Oh, I rather think so, don't you..?

Clearly this rescue isn't newsworthy to Hillary's Comrades.
I hope America remembers this.

Yes he did Joy. Thanks for the comments.

"it might be a nice idea to relax some of our own gun regulations."
If only. I live in NJ. Many of the politicians here are only one step away from the Fidel fan club!

Wouldn't suprise me. That's a shame.

While the man quoted in the article was quick to point out that retrieval of the body wasn't their sole objective, I would have liked to have heard him say, "We are also hoping to kill as many people as we can find that played a part in this tragedy."
