I can't wait to see that
they imploded after the 88 elections the lost the presidency election and many state houses and governorships and they lost congress and finally now both houses
they have moved so far to the left the middle might desert them it will be interesting to watch this all play out

I truly agree the in fighting between whats left of the Centerists and the extremes definitely proves that point. Perhaps we will see a new independent party and those like Daschle and Kennedy will be filibusting themselves out of a job.

the media was in total melt-down in Afghanistan also, saying it was another quagmire, etc. - just before it all rapidly came together What you describe here is pretty much the pattern of ALL wars. Resistence will slow advances while it can be maintained, but once the enemy suffers attrition to the point that equipment and/or supply can no longer resist the constant, steady pressure maintained by the attacker, they crack suddenly and the entire defense crumbles.
We arrived some days ago at the place where Iraq presents its resistence to the advance (essentially: the RG front lines), about 50 miles from Baghdad. Steady and constant pressure will be applied to that resistence through tactical maneuver and engagement, and of course air power. That resistence will hold at that point until it suffers enough attrition, or depravation of supply, that it suddently and quicky, without warning, collapses. If there is not a second line of defense, then the collapse will be total.

nobody is paying attention to them right nowAnd that is the environment where evil thrives. It reminds me of the move Ship Of Fools.

At the moment, I think the chicken embryo cannons are standing by, locked and loaded. What exactly does this mean ? The only thing that comes to mind is a smallpox bioweapon.

the polarization is terrible in both houses between the parties
there are fewer and fewer willing to work together to get anything done same thing here in CA in Sacto
the best thing to happen would be just that - both parties work best from the middle when they stray too far on either side this is what always happens

I always pay attention to what they do
the war is keeping most eyes off what is going on with them it's not helping them figure anything out anyway they are going to disintegrate or implode

Either A) Rummy et al. have majorly funked this war thing up, and its truly in disarray and are trying to cover it up and make things up as they go along, or B) the "Media" is doing a major meltdown and has gotten the "jist" of things totally wrong and will have MAJOR egg on their faces in a few months. That's a false dichotomy.
No doubt the media are going to look really stupid with their "Vietnam" and "quagmire" nonsense. However, just because we're going to win doesn't mean Rumsfeld did everything right. Ralph Peters, for example, has been scathing in his criticism of Rumsfeld's military planning (though not his leadership), but has no doubt that we'll win the war.
