WTF Is Geraldo doing?
Posted on 03/30/2003 8:48:09 PM PST by lewislynn
This is the third night I've seen Geraldo giving the location of his company and mentioning the new supply route to the west.
Three nights ago he gave his location by miles. So many miles north of Q8 and so many miles south of Baghdad and so many miles west of ?....
Now he's drawing their war plan in the sand.
I'll put Geraldo in the Peter Arnett category (is anybody really surprised at his treason?).
I went to the FOX website but can't find the e-mail address...I'm pissed.

Geraldo is just extremely gung-ho! I really feel for those Commanders that have to waste any time at all judging what to let them say. I heard tonight that a reporter was in a "strategy and tactics" meeting with his group. He comes out and reports it.

Did you see the quote the other day on FR by a private in the Marines who told the reporter his name was; Duke E. Newcomb?
It's a scream!

Are you getting dizzy from their constant cuts to Jordan, Kuwait City, Pentagon, girl who gives # of troops, etc? I think they are running out of things to report on. It is getting silly.
I wish they would show more live action rather than have the embedded reporters talk about their last spit bath.
To: Radix
Do you actually think that I know where my son is?Judging by your comment about seeing your son, I assumed he was there with Geraldo...That is what this thread is about.
I am easy to piss off.
Why should I care how pissed off you are?
To: whadizit
It was awkward watching the live fire. I didn't want to see someone get shot. I did watch though as long as I could.
The guy in Kuwait City finally got the message about wearing his gas mask. The first few days he was fiddling around and still talking while the air raids were going off instead of putting the mask on. An air raid siren began, he was telling us that during training the instructor counted to 9 seconds if you didn't have your mask on by the time he got to 9 you were dead. It's good to see he's taking this serious now.

About half of them are saying what is the obvious, I don't need you or any other uninformed "freepers" to tell me what to think.
You sound like a stuck record.
I'm sorry, who's the stuck record again?
I guess those words in red letters "Loose lips sink ships" right below this reply box no longer have any meaning when our favorite FOX reporters are doing it.

I know everything that I need to know about you.
I wish you well.

I wasn't too happy about Fox hiring Geraldo, but he has won me over. All of my lingering doubts were finally erased about a week ago when he forming a question about the anti-war protests and he said "...in which I have participated in the past and have since lived to regret..." As others have mentioned, I also saw when the officer praised him for words he had for the troops in an earlier meeting and what a pleasure it was to have him there with them.
I can't remember the exact time or words, but I do recall Geraldo saying he thinks President Bush is right in his war on terror, including the Iraqi war. Geraldo has definately stopped drinking the Kool-Aid.

Who knows? Not me.
We are two ants standing on a blade of grass watching lions battle hyenas on the distant horizon.
Jeez, what's got into me tonight? Getting all philosophical and stuff.

...I was impressed today when I heard a Colonel in the unit where Rivera is telling how much Geraldo's encouragement and presence meant to them. While he gets under my skin, apparently he has built a very good rapport with the troops and is an encouragement to them.I heard the same thing yesterday from one of the leaders in the unit Geraldo is with. He was saying how much the guys really love having Geraldo there. So if those guys don't mind him, I'm not going to complain about him.
I love his reports, he throws his whole heart into them. He redeemed himself in my eyes a while back, after hearing him talk about all the people in his community who were lost on 9-11, and all the children there who were orphaned on that day. The guy is all right in my book.

He may showboat a bit, but I must say I like him. The problem with showboats is they have a need to impress, and sometimes showboats feel the need to disclose what they know in their attempt to impress you.
I haven't seen any other FOX imbedded reporters drawing maps and war plans in the "brown talcum powder" sands of Iraq...Have you?

I have to agree..
In this awful time..
Please let's not fight amongst ourselves, and let's not ESPECIALLY fight with anyone who has a son, daughter, cousin, sister, brother, spouse, and so on..who has been deployed to Iraq.
We can only imagine what that must be like..I DO remember when my own brother was in Viet Nam, all the people who protested agaianst him, all the time I was hoping and praying that he was still alive, and then spat on him when he came home..
I tell you this is not the time or the place for this nonsense..show some respect at least for the troops, even if you cannot muster it for a fellow Freeper..
Unity is imperative to this war, and it is imperative to the moral of our troops...
Please...

We can only imagine what that must be like..I DO remember when my own brother was in Viet Nam, I served in Viet Nam as did some men better than me...That doesn't make me special.
I don't happen to like what Geraldo is reporting. I think it's strange simply because he's a reformed liberal now working for everyone's favorite, FOX, that someone who might have a loved one there doesn't mind he's giving away troop positions and battle plans...No other FOX imbedded reporters are doing that.
To: lewislynn
Relax.
Somebody had to tell Geraldo that information. Knowing that, and knowing him, do you suppose they told him the correct information? He's relaying what he was told, which may or may not be correct. Either way, it's what they wanted (or didn't care) everyone else to hear.

Sheesh..
It's late, I meant to say that he was spat upon by the protestors when he got home..
Sorry about that..

He's a camera hog but suprisingly seems to have rapport with the troops he's been with. They line up for his pep rallies.
I doubt he's saying anything he's not allowed or he'd be on his way home....although I bet Franks and Co. give FOX a bit more leeway when they err.
I hate to admit it but he's ok for now....he is an egotistical madman and he defended our loathed enemy as we all know but at least he's self deprecating and I think genuine in his admiration of the troops.
OK...someone can shoot me now.
