WTF Is Geraldo doing?
Posted on 03/30/2003 8:48:09 PM PST by lewislynn
This is the third night I've seen Geraldo giving the location of his company and mentioning the new supply route to the west.
Three nights ago he gave his location by miles. So many miles north of Q8 and so many miles south of Baghdad and so many miles west of ?....
Now he's drawing their war plan in the sand.
I'll put Geraldo in the Peter Arnett category (is anybody really surprised at his treason?).
I went to the FOX website but can't find the e-mail address...I'm pissed.

As for Geraldo, I think he's showboating. I usually get very annoyed watching his reports. You got that exactly right!
To: Radix
I hope you do get to see your brave son. Geraldo is doing great reporting, not only on the whole war, but personally with the troops. Tonight he was talking about those people who claim the troops are made up of the lower groups of society. He said these guys are the best of the best, smart, dedicated and could probably run IBM if they hadn't chosen the military.
He is wonderful giving the patriotic rah rah for them and the viewers and it makes me feel great to listen to him. I can't understand anyone who watches him who doubts his sincerity. Roger Ailes is no dummy, and I'm glad he hired him and took some heat from fans for a few weeks.

Geraldo......classic dramatist.
During the beginning of operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan,Geraldo was "Humpin it"..in the mountains looking for the story.
Geraldo was getting fried back home in America for claims that he was narrowly missed by some errant B-52 JDAM....when in actuallity..,he was nowhere near this incident local.
Having returned from work...popped on the T.V. ..gulped a brew..and behold its Geraldo...except this time he looks like he has bought the farm.
Its dark.....he's dressed like some Peshmerger with the headdress to boot,
Except he's twisting and rolling in the dirt on his belly while Northern Alliance Afghans run back and forth shouting excitedly.
WTF!....."Oh my God...his legs have been blown off by a mine" I thought!
Nrrrrrrr.....[Buzzer sound for ....nope wrong answer]
If anyone ever does Geraldo in a movie...I hope its Bill Murray.
Sometimes it seems like the age of Nixon will never end,.... Where the Buffalo roam....[AKA a Bill Murray movie]

I think someone may always be near by when they give their reports.Yep. I'm sure you are right. Been there done that as a public affairs officer in the Air Force. My bet is there's a PAO or some other 'handler' next to the camera operator who is monitoring the report. And, those TV reporters can only broadcast when the unit commanders allow them to.

But you have no problem broadcasting his location?
Do you actually think that I know where my son is?
I think that you might just be trying to antagognize me.
Good work.
You have succeeded, lets have it out.
I will never back down from any antagonist.
You want to piss me off?
Go ahead!
I am easy to piss off.

I think they are giving Steve Harrigan a break. After all, when he was in Afghanistan, he was out there in the field and in danger all the time. Probably easing up on him a bit for this war,and giving him a less dangerous job. Don't want him to have burnout.
To: Fred Mertz
So have I Fred, and what's more important, the Troops like him. You could see it in Afghanistan and you can see it with the 101st.
He had people all around him. If he was doing anything out of line they would have stopped him, pronto.

Lewislynn, haven't you been reading all the comments on this thread? About half of them are saying what is the obvious, that he couldn't report anything the field commander there wouldn't want him to, and if he did, he'd be out of there in a micro minute. So why do you keep repeating that he is giving away secrets, when he couldn't without being booted out of there. You sound like a stuck record.
To: terilyn
If he had endangered the men he was with in Afghanistan, he never would have been allowed into Iraq, let alone in FOX's studios.
Really, I suspect that Geraldo may have more experience traveling with troops than Rick, Chris or Greg. I think Ollie has Geraldo beat, though. Something about being a Colonel, makes me think Ollie knows his way around the military, and the press!
To: Radix
OK! hahahaha Nice to see you Radix.

As if the TV will ever give me information that I require.
Sorry, I know that Geraldo is a TV person. I have seen him, evven this very night, but I certainly do not rely on him for my information.

LOL, you're right, nobody beats Ollie.
There's a real reason why these guys and gals like Geraldo. He respects and appreciates the job they're doing, big time.
