Pure Chicken Little scaremongering rubbish.

The Patriot Act gives corporations some tort protections from selling data that they *legally* collect on their customers, as well as spells out what limits are in place on arresting/surveying non-citizens.

Everything else that's been said about the Patriot Act is pure hype from frightened people with their own political agenda.

"March 7th, 2003 "
It was posted here back when it was first published.

And it's still the most siliest hyperbole.

Heil Heimatsicherheitsdeinst! That old Constitution is so old-fashioned. Let's let the Republicans build a police state. Later the Democrats can perfect it. Imagine the sense of betrayal when President Hillary (or someone even worse) closes churches that aren't New Age, bans the Boy Scouts, has children spy on their parents for "anti-government" ideas, and institutes house-to-house searches for guns and banned books. Don't say that no one ever told you so!

These people posting here make me sick! They are enemys and traitors to America. There comments represent everything That FR was founded to defend. They have total disregard for the protections and libertys for which this country was founded. Some of them because they are ignorant and some of them because they honnor a man above there country.

Read the leaked document. Conservatives ought to be concerned.

You seem to be mistaking Mr. Smith for Mrs. Mith. Next time before going off on a stupid condescending rant, you might want to be more careful on your details and assumptions.

Cut the sexist crap (even if it is off target). I suggest you try debating the facts, something mrsmith is quite capable of.

You better read it again and this time for meaning. Use a dictionary if you have trouble with some of the words.

Why don't you post YOUR issues with the proposed legislation instead of attacking others you disagree with...

Look kid, here's a bet:

I bet that you can't quote a single sentence from the Patriot Act for which you have a Constitutional problem.

In other words, I'm betting that you are merely spouting off about something which you do not know, due entirely to hearing too much propaganda.

So here's your chance to prove me wrong. Post a single unConstitutional sentence from the *Patriot Act* itself in the next week (see, I'm even giving you the chance to actually go do your very first research without anyone else knowing)...

I remember Safire's column last November that claimed the Homeland Security Act would create TIA and authorize that all transactions and medical records in this country be forwarded to that database. It was a patently false claim - the department developing TIA was not even mentioned in the legislation - but the Wash Times, the Cato Institute and Bob Barr all picked up this claim and ran with it without even checking facts - Cato had the claim as the lead story on their website and changed their headline and initial paragraph for the story when I pointed it out to them. It was distressing how folks who should have the means and inclination to check facts couldn't be bothered to do such.
