Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

National Geographic has been socialist for about thirty years. This is no surprise to me.

They and Scientific American never made it through the 60's with their scientific integrity intact. Too much dope smoking in their (so-called) management, I suspect.

"Did you see that tank take out that thousand foot TV tower in Baghdad with a single shot?"

Missed that. What I don't get is why Iraqi state TV and Al Jazeera are still on the air in Iraq! Can't we get it down and keep it down?

Just when I thought there weren't any veins left to burst in my brain over the media's SCRIPTED treason....POP!

Not a single one of these bastards even knows what the plan is, yet somehow, EVERY one of them seems to be reading from the same script about how it has "failed" (never mind the BIBLICAL success so far). Telling lies to benefit the dems and attack dubbya is one thing, but these guys are deliberately trying to harm the war effort for political purposes, and it is an organised effort. It will be interesting to see the Admin sticks to the "new tone" now. They better not, and they better expose this crap for what it is, directly, indirectly, or otherwise. There is a COUP taking place, not for the actual leadership, but for the reality in which it is decided. Bias is one thing, but this week has seen something far worse than bias. If the democRats in the shadows scripting all of this are allowed to get away with it, the future will not be what it should be. Expose them, Mr. President, expose them, and destroy the enemy within.

My email to everyone involved (MSNBC, NBC, National Geographic):

I saw Peter Arnett being interviewed by the Iraqi government-controlled TV station. I was appalled at his cooperation with the brutal Iraqi government and his on-air admission that he was purposely focusing upon the tragic yet unavoidable collateral damage in this war in order to effect public opinion back in the United States. Would that he would pay a little more attention to the captured coalition soldiers being tortured and executed by the Iraqis, the Iraqi civilians that are being murdered by their government for even waving at coalition troops, etc. But, no, he's more interested in the accidental damage and deaths in order to advance his own anti-American agenda. This admitted behavior is not only treasonous (aiding and abetting the enemy) but it also demonstrates that Arnett has forgotten the basics of true journalism. He has sacrificed his own credibility and that of his employers and those who air his biased reports so that he can aid the enemy Iraqi government in their PR efforts.

Peter Arnett deserves neither to be aired by any news network nor to be employed by any other media outlet. Allowing his biased reports to continue or to continue employing him seriously damages any news or media organization's credibility. I will not watch NBC or MSNBC until they announce that they will no longer be associated with Peter Arnett nor air his reports. Neither will I purchase or view any National Geographic product or program until Peter Arnett is fired.

Arnett is openly providing aid and comfort to our enemies. He is now a legitimate military target. NBC stands behind him - They should be targets too.

"Every single reporter is anti-American and their questions are in the form of "accusations".

No kidding. I always end up turning off those briefings in disgust.

here's hoping, actually, that he gets blown to pieces before then. and that he is a citizen so that whether he checks out by bomb, bullet, or noose he will be buried here -- it's not worth the trouble to go elsewhere to pee on his grave.

still nothing from drudge on this -- i guess he's bust putting on makeup for his radio show.

"What do you bet that Arnett will be the highlight of his radio broadcast/rant tonight?"

I'd rather see Savage have a go at him.

What was their statement on the issue? I've missed it here someplace.

I can't find it online at any of the usual sites. Fox has been quoting from it on air. I can tell you this much: It does NOT apologize for Arnett, and it gives not the slightest indication they intend to even give him a talking to, much a less fire him.

Well... In another reply to you and Grampa Dave, I reminded everyone I could think of to ping that This Is No Worse Than Walter Chronkite who told the American People that we were losing the Vietnam War at the very time the North Vietnamese had shot their wad on the Tet Offensive and were ready to quit because we successfully beat back their best and last effort!!!

I do remember this reporter hanging around our hospital in Vietnam. He was a doofus then and nothing has changed.

"If that pig was ever sought as a fugitive from justice I bet France would give him sanctuary. I think an accidental discharge of a Maverick or Hellfire missle might be true justice for that disgusting pig."

If this isn't treason treason doesn't exist.

We could get a jump start on that if they moved it back to Breaking News where it belongs.

They killed a 100 post thread on this at the get go.

We need to rally on this. I saw it....it was as disgusting a display by a reporter of a US news outlet as I have ever witnessed.

He should be canned and his green card revoked.

Candy Crowley isn't the most attractive reporter on the planet.

Please tell me that's not your standard for journalistic integrity. Crowley's the most fair and honest reporter CNN has.

We don't need obnoxious fat-hate jokes around here anyway.
