Moore tools up for another furor Fri Mar 28, 3:57 AM ET
By Michael Fleming
NEW YORK (Variety) - Michael Moore, who didn't endear himself to the Oscar audience last Sunday, will doubtless arouse further ire with his next documentary.
The project will depict the allegedly murky relationship between President Bush (news - web sites)'s father and the family of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites). And it will suggest that the bin Laden family was greatly enriched by that association.
Moore is making a deal with Mel Gibson's Icon Prods. to finance "Fahrenheit 911," a documentary that will trace why the U.S. has become a target for hatred and terrorism. It will also depict alleged dealings between two generations of the Bush and bin Laden clans that led to George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden becoming mortal enemies.
While the words "fevered auction" and "documentary" should never be used in the same sentence, they fit the post-Oscar bidding battle orchestrated by the Endeavor talent agency. Gibson and Bruce Davey's Icon won with a bid worth eight figures in upfront cash and potential backend profits.

I am boycotting all movies that have bleeding heart liberal protesters in them or involved with them.
What about freeping movie theaters???
To: LouisianaJoanof Arc
Well, that would include 99.99% of the movies out there.

Everybody is reporting this deal, and this is about the tenth news source I've read. Every one of them reports what Michael Moore has told them, and not one has any kind of quotation, direct or indirect, from Mel Gibson's side.
So, it's hard to see why Moore would lie openly about a deal that will soon be either confirmed or denied. But I still fail to see what's in it for Mel Gibson. It goes against all his earlier work, and it would severely enrage most of his fan base.
Well, presumably we'll have a confirmation or a denial sometime soon.

Ugh...Gibson must be tired of the good realm in his current religious product.
Now wants to immerse himself in evil.

I can't believe Gibson would have anything to do with such a project.

Buy the script Mel, then put it on the shelf.

In other so called news
Get a load of this: they think I'm president out there in the kindergarten community. Thursday night I received the following e-mail from a mom in North Carolina on the super-secret, direct pipeline for Rush 24/7 subscribers:
Hello, Rush, my name is Angela. I live in Cary, North Carolina. I'm a stay-at-home mom. I listen to you while I'm in the car running errands. My four-year-old son is generally with me. Today after I picked him up from his Playskool, he said, Mommy, I know who one of the presidents was. I said, Oh, really? Who? And he said George Washington. I told him he was correct.
I then asked him if he knew who the current president was, assuming he would say George Bush because he had gone with me to vote last time, and every time we passed the polling place we speak about voting for George W. Bush. When he answered my question, he said - very matter-of-factly without any hesitation, almost in a sort of you-mean-you-don't-know type of tone - that Rush Limbaugh is the president. I almost lost control of the car, Rush. I said, "Who?" My little four-year-old son said Rush Limbaugh is the president! I then reminded him George Bush was and how we'd gone to vote, and he said, "Oh, that's right," and he was somewhat disappointed that he was not correct. Thought this might give you a laugh.
Apparently my chief of staff H.R. Kit Carson's son thinks I'm the president too. That's the power of the media, ladies and gentlemen.

Boy, the press jumped all over this one. Of course, it came out on a Friday...I think Mel will clear this up next week.

Is it possible, however unlikely, the Mel Gibson is, in fact, signing this guy up, and then plans on shelving the movie? He would own it, wouldn't he? I can forsee neverending problems in the editing room.
Better yet, how about an alternate "producers" edit? It might be real interesting to have Icon productions supply their own camera crew to document this so called academy award winners "history making production."

It goes against all his earlier work, and it would severely enrage most of his fan base. What "earlier work"? Lethal Weapon 1? Lethal Weapon 2? What Women Want? These are not "work"; they're just silly movies that made boatloads of money.
Gibson's a businessman, and he's no doubt seen that "Bowling for Columbine" made $40 million.
Gibson's "fan base" is women, of all political persuasions, and men who like other macho men.
That's a bunch of folks.
I don't doubt that this story is true.
It's not personal, Cicero. It's just business.

This after Mel Gibson "supposedly" does a heartfelt Chrisitan film.
I think Catholics are more apt to be Socialist dupes.
- "As the parson has ever gone hand in hand with the landlord, so has Clerical Socialism with Feudal Socialism. Nothing is easier than to give Christian asceticism a Socialist tinge. Has not Christianity declaimed against private property, against marriage, against the State? Has it not preached, in the place of these, charity and poverty, celibacy and mortification of the flesh, monastic life and Mother Church? Christian Socialism is but the Holy Water with which the priest consecrates the heartburnings of the aristocrat." -- Karl Marx, COMMUNIST MANIFESTO

You overlooked Lethal Weapon 3. And 4.
Maybe he's just tired of being a conservative. You know, just woke up one morning, said "I'm gettin' too old for this sh!t" and phoned Mike up. I dunno. It could happen.

EXCUSE ME! The Holy Father,Pope John Paul 11 is a man of great intelligence! Would you care to tell us all, your degrees and universities you've attended? I don't know why A Hindu has squat to say about Pope John Paul 11.If I made any such disrespectful comments about your "religion" you wouldn't like it.

Icon IS producing a remake of Fahrenheit 451. It's possible this is a case of Mistaken Production Identity. Fahrenheit 911 sounds like a pretty silly title.
