Good point. I'm guessing "the family" is going through their own private war, in the midst of the big one...many clamoring for the top dog positions. I'll bet the bullets are flying. Think, "implode".

I think we should declare him dead and announce it to the world and let the Iraqi's try and refute it.
If he does show his head again ....BLAM !

Its a good trick, to try to be a bodyguard for a dead man. Just as its a good trick to have a dead man make videotapes (thus the fake ones all "released" in the last week or so).

On another thread, a poster stated that the bodyguard is a double. Makes sense when you realize that Saddam has to have a double to accompany his double. Of course, it could also be a demon's trick to keep the Pentagon second-guessing.

Could the truth lie somewhere between? Could Saddam be impaired- well enough to be propped up at the table (we haven't seen him standing up since the war started)but unable to function mentally...

Not much use in guarding a corpse.

"Was there video of a "Saddam" giving the posthumous medal?"Peter Arnett will be in charge of awarding all medals to Iraqi thugs and suicide bombers, in the event that Saddam is unable to fullfill his duties.

If the bodyguard is always with Saddam I believe they said that the body guard was never seen outside of the presence of Saddam. That is different than saying that he's always with Saddam. He's probably only with SH when SH is in the presence of not-as-trusted personel (ie: tv crews, public appearances, interviews with western journalists). Apparently he's never been seen guarding anyone else but SH.

According t his ex-mistress, he'd been having strokes. For all we know, the real Saddam could have been dead for years.
Actually this is the theory of one famous iraqi defector (i forget his name now)who wrote a book that SH died in 1999 and we've only seen his doubles since then (so his regime can keep power). Not that I believe that, but it's possible.

Ah Hah! Stone cold proof. He gave the medals "posthumous". Those Iraqis and their clever sense of humor! All the medals he gives now are posthumous.
They just break me up.

Sadam was there.
You just couldn't see him.
He was under the table soliciting support from those who protect him!
