Exactly. I have no doubt that Nicklaus and Palmer's decision is in part a show of support for Augusta in its battle with Burk.

Nicklaus and his youngest son played a practice round Thursday at Augusta National with Palmer and his 15-year-old grandson.
Picture is worth a thousand words. That would make for a great painting.

Very likely Palmer's decision
is a Martha Burke thing, a show of solidarity from a loyal Augusta National member (and four-time champion). That would be just like Arnie. For those of you too young to remember, he was asked to run for Governor of Pennsylvania, as a Republican of course, back in the 1970s/80s; I don't know how long he entertained the prospect, but more than a few people took it quite seriously.
I only hope he doesn't embarrass himself on the course next month. With its added length and tightened fairways, Augusta National has the potential to make serious contenders look foolish. I don't want to see him shoot 90-something, but that's a distinct possibility.
I'll be there to root him on, and I'll guarantee he'll receive a world-class ovation as he walks up the 18th on Friday (which will be his last day, as he won't make the cut) no matter what he shoots.

I would like to see the Masters put Arnie, Jack and Tiger
in a threesome to start the first round of the tournament.
It would be a fitting tribute to the game of Golf to put
these three champions together.
