Message to would-be buyers of postage meters, CB amplifiers, mountain lion parts and speleothems taken from federal land: When you buy your goodies online, you'll have to pay for them with something other than PayPal.
Thanks to a sweeping set of changes to its acceptable-use policy, PayPal's exhaustive new rules now dictate exactly where users' funds can and cannot be spent.

Question:
How does paypal know what you are selling? If I am selling (say) a machine gun with pornographic images emblazoned on it, how does paypal know not to allow the buyer to put the money in my account?

Under the new paypal argeement you can no longer sell firearms. E-bay now owns paypal.
I'm sure you could continue to use paypal for these "banned"
items but Paypal would have tell you to pound sand if a transaction went bad.
I closed my paypal account. Postal Money orders from now on.

Is that a machine for parents who are too lazy to spank their own children?

They set a limit of $2000 worth of transactions before they DEMAND direct access to your checking account. Well, I've spent my $2000 via Visa, Discover and Amex, and now ...NOBODY has direct access to my checking account. This is EXACTLY what I did! There was no way I was going to give them access to my checking acct. And no way was I going to spend money to setup a seperate checking acct for Paypal. I've done just fine without them.

Well I just became a power seller a few weeks ago, never had a problem with paypal and I do not leave a lot of money sitting there.I did have a problem with a vintage nightstick. This was donated and very old.We watched the auctions for 1 month on nightsticks and old Billy Clubs, this one was from the 20's.I put it up with a reserve of 50.00 and in 5 minutes had a full bid.Went to bed and looked it up the next day and they took it down, but when fatima goes she takes them all.All the auctions we were watching were gone too.Buyer contacted us and we still sold, moral of story,if fatima goes they all go:)
