I just received a phone call from freeper YellowRoseofTexas. She has some info she asked me to let folks know about.

REQUEST FOR FLEA COLLARS FROM THE TROOPS IN IRAQ!!

A friend of hers has a son serving in Iraq. He has asked his mom to send him some dog and cat flea collars. There are sand fleas and the collars help a lot in warding off the little buggers. Rose asked me to let folks interested in preparing care packages for troops on the Iraqi front that this is a HIGH REQUEST item!!

For those who have been following Rose's progress, there is an update on the "Prayer Thread for Yellow Rose of Texas - THIS IS NO DRILL!!" http://freerepublic.com/perl/post?id=879044%2C129

She sends her greetings to one and all here.

Someone pointed out to me in recent days that the birthplace of Abraham is thought to have been in southeastern Iraq. While pondering that factoid, it brought to my mind the set of scriptures in the 18th chapter of Genesis where the Lord is speaking with Abraham and announces that He is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham, mindful that there are possibly righteous innocents in those cities, bargains with the Lord for their lives. He extracts from the Lord the promise that for the sake of even as few as 10 righteous souls He would spare the city. We know that the Lord was actually unable to find those 10 righteous, but nevertheless the promise and precedent was made. Our Lord will, for the sake of 10 righteous, change or alter his actions because of them. I have been pondering this, and in my minds eye, I keep seeing all the thousands if not millions who are praying for the Lord to intercede in this conflict. Surely among this number are the souls who would fulfill the requirement of the 10 righteous for whom the Lord would intercede or stay His hand.

Genesis 18:32
"And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake."

OUR FATHER,

Events have been moving apace, and we now see our troops circling ever closer the city of Baghdad. We have been warned by the command authorities that they expect the hardest fighting to be in front of us. Blessed Father, we stand before you individually and in our prayer circles all over this nation and our allied nations, and we beseech you to take our prayers and send your angels before our coalition troops.

You have given us in scripture the precedent that for the sake of 10 righteous, you will stay your hand from certain and total destruction. Father, surely as you observe the desire and intent of our coalition troops to emulate you in your mercy toward the city of Baghdad, by sparing it and her innocent people as much as possible, you must also find it in your heart to spare our troops themselves as they face the prospect of chemical or biological warfare, suicide bombers, snipers, and guerillas. Surely among the troops and the many prayer circles assembled calling for your intercession there must be the 10 righteous for whom's sake you would spare our brothers and sisters in battle.

We call for our prayers in this moment to be shaped into a mighty weapon of light that you will give unto the hands of your angels for the protection of all innocent life on both sides of this battle, according to thy will. Clear the way on this battlefield. Bind any and all plans of the enemy to use those weapons of mass destruction or base criminal tactics. Clear the way and let there be a miraculous victorious ending of this conflict so that the real work of rebuilding a free society in Iraq may begin.

We have seen with joy the rescue of one of our own young women, and with infinite sadness, the recovery of the bodies of some of her companions. Father, bless and heal the body, mind and soul of Jessica Lynch. Give her and her family strength and courage to recover fully from the mistreatment it is reported she suffered. Bless and enfold with our prayers those families who have lost their young soldier to the war. Comfort them and heal their souls as they grieve. We ask for your intercession to stay the destructive hands of those who hold some of our soldiers captive. Bless their families as well. Let all of these families know at some level how we do honor these magnificent young people.

Lord of us all, we witness coming from many directions certain biases in the media which appear at the very least to be imprudent or in some cases actually harmful to the morale or safety of the troops and morale of our people at home. Father, we ask, according to thy will, that you will expose to all viewers any and all biases, lies, and manipulations that any media outlet may seek to perpetrate for any ignorant or malicious motive. Strip any and all who have malicious intent of their power to do harm according to thy will. We ask that you will make known whatever Truth(s) needs to be made known across the land.

Father, we ask that you will continue to guide our President, his cabinet, and all of our military leaders as they prosecute this war of liberation.

We are mindful that we have troops in other places than Iraq. Please bless and protect all who are posted in Afghanistan, Japan, or any other outpost throughout the world.

We are grateful that you have called us together, and that you have promised to intercede when we pray together. We praise you our Father God, for you are worthy to be praised.

Let all which we pray together be multiplied and magnified as much as your great Law will allow, and let it be done only according to thy will.

Amen

I'm pretty sure it's coincidental, but this picture was posted on FReeper Diogenesis' "Gotta See This" thread today. This is probably a time-delayed picture of a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) firing up and away from the photographer...

I say AMEN and AMEN. Thanks for that wonderful, thorough prayer. Mostly good news about Rose, but sorry to hear she messed up those ribs. Praying healing will come quickly.

Hello, dear TEX,
I've a stupid question. While flea collars might bring about instant relief, will there be any consequences for using them over time? Don't have a problem sending our troops whatever items I can, just worried.

Any vetenerians out there?

Be careful about those flea collars. They are toxic.
