Welcome to the Troop Prayer Thread! We gather here together in the belief that "whereever two or more are gathered in my name, there am I," and that by the grace of God, group prayer effort can be a great force for good in the world.

We are listing here members of the active armed services known to us for whom we want to pray. We are also seeking to keep track of the Captured/MIAs here for prayer purposes.

If you would like to submit someone for our list, you are welcome to do so at any time. Post their name or pseudonym here on the thread or freepmail amom or myself. If we have made any errors, please let us know so that we may correct the list. We will be making periodic updates. If you want to be added or removed from the ping list please let amom or me know by freepmail.

We invite everyone, active Freepers and Lurkers alike to join our circle in prayer for these fine men and women who have volunteered to place their lives on the line for the defense of our nation and for the liberation of the oppressed peoples of other nations. To them we send our greatest respect and gratitude. We send them our prayers and good thoughts. We ask for God's blessing upon them and their families.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

A friend of mine has a daughter, Elsa, serving at this time.

Our Heavenly Father,

We place before you your beloved daughter Elsa. Father, we ask that you will surround her with your angels and grant her protection, inspiration and illumination and wisdom as she fulfills her duties. Grant her strength and courage in the days to come. Take our prayers for her and create a tissue of light around her that will keep her focused on her job, yet mindful that her family and loved ones are holding the vigil for her safe and victorious return.

Please give your care and attention to her family and loved ones who have commended her into your care and keeping during this dangerous separation. Reassure and comfort them with your Presence in her and their lives. Let them know deep in their hearts that they do not hold the vigil for her alone. Bless this family and sustain them with the knowledge that the vast majority of Americans support them with their prayers and good thoughts and that they know she is doing God's work.

Blessed Father,
We place before you this young Marine. He has elected to take his place among those who fight for the holy cause of Freedom. We ask that you will bless him and strengthen him in the fulfillment of his pledge.

Guide, guard, direct, and protect him as he takes the field of battle. We ask that you will take care of his body in times of danger. Yet, we do ask for his soul and peace of mind that you will preserve the sweetness and purity of his heart in the face of the darkness of war. Send legions of angels to surround him and his buddies at all times.

Bless his family and friends during this time of separation. Let the ties which bind them together be strengthened. Let him know at some level that many here at home are holding the vigil for his safe and victorious return. Let his family and loved ones know that they are not alone. We are very honored to add your two brothers, Smocker. God bless them and you. (In the following prayer, I have made the assumption that you are male...if I've gotten it wrong, please forgive!)


Heavenly Father,

Smocker has let us know that he has 2 precious brothers overseas, whereabouts to him unknown. We lift these siblings up in prayer and request that our prayers be sent to them for their fortification and protection. We are grateful for their service. We ask that you will place upon them a mantle of light made from our prayers which will serve as an extra layer of armour.

Bless all of their equipment, gear, and conveyances they will be using now and in the days to come. Keep their morale high with the sure knowledge that they are doing God's work and that their family and loved ones and many here at home are awaiting their return in safety and victory. Surround Smocker and his family as they await the homecoming of these two brothers.

Grant these two brothers quickness of foot and clarity of mind and heart in times of danger. Grant that they and the officers they serve under have an abundance of wisdom and insight to do the correct action at the correct time and correct place under your direct command.

Father, this which we call forth for Smocker's two brothers, we call forth for all our troops and coalition partners under arms according to they will.

Father I lift up our boys and girls deployed there. Their lives are in Your hands, I pray that in this dark hour You become their beacon, that You send Your Angel to camp around them and defend. Let their spiritual senses be awakened and be alert to the ploys of the enemy. Lead them and guide them. Keep them, guard them let Your face shine on them and bring them home safe.

Of all the things they will have to endure and live in this war, I pray that you keep their hearts. They are so young and this is a relentless enemy who has no regard for human life. Father many of their heart will have to make decisions in a split second that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. I pray mercy, mercy and grace upon them, courage and hope that this too shall pass away. After all is done and they are back I pray healing in their lives. Do not allow them to be broken with memories. For the love of Your name bring healing upon them.
