CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar (AP) -- A pair of F-15E Strike Eagles destroyed a two-story building in Basra where some 200 Iraqi regime paramilitary members were believed to be meeting Friday night, the U.S. Central Command said.

The U.S. Air Force jets used laser-guided munitions to destroy the building, while leaving undamaged the Basra Christian Church 300 yards away, the officials said. They said a delayed fuse allowed the bombs to penetrate the structure before detonation, minimizing the effects of the blast.

Awesome news, if true!!! If we got 200 of them at once, it would be great, and quite demoralizing to the remaining chuckleheads.

But first reports have been wrong so often...

I suspect some of the locals who have seen the utter brutality of Saddam's thugs are providing our guys with information.

Not only that but some Army engineers just tapped an artesian well on the front lines and pumped 100,000 gallons of water on the first day.

Where did that come from?

I'd imagine that the forces inside the city will become so paranoid after a while, they either start shooting themselves, or make a mad dash out, like those tanks did the other day in Basra.

I would hope so, but I'm afraid what these monsters will do is take out their paranoia on innocent civilians, blaming innocent people for being collaborators and making examples out of them.

Some quagmire.

The positive about killing Baathists is that in this way they can never come back in different guises in a liberated Iraq.

There is no better regime change than by physically eradicating it. Saddam, as usual, is unintentionally doing the world a favor by invocating his demons so early.

One of the embedded guys on FNC; either the one with the 3rd Infantry, or the one with the Marine Light Armoured Recon outfit.

Little by little?

200 seems like quite a few.

How about leaps and bounds. 300 miles in 7 days is not a small feat by any means.

14 dead in battle is a testement to our skill and bravery.

U.S.A. is the best. Why not claim the name Chiefs?

putting a couple of 1000# bombs into a building full of bad guys is killing them little by little,

Killing me softly with your love, ooooh, ooooh, killing me softly - etc.

Minimizing the effects of the blast, if you are outside -- but maximizing it for those on the inside!

ABC won't report this attack unless it's confirmed by someone inside the building.
