That timing is way too convenient. Not really. If I were an Iraqi terrorist, and I had a truck bomb in Kuwait City, I wouldn't wait around with it to score political points by setting it off at some special time. Plus, we've been dropping new bombs on Baghdad every 6-12 hours, so it's not such a surprise this explosion would occur at a time near one of our missile strikes.

Question for all: MSNBC is saying the Mall was the target. Are these missiles that accurate?

As I understand it, dessert dwellers tend to take it easy during the day & do their shopping, socializing, etc. in the cool of the night. I don't know how late they stay up, but it wouldn't surprise me if 2am is more like evening in the U.S. so far as a mall on a weekend goes. Remember, Friday is their day off.

Yeah, but Iran caught a boatload of explosives the other day and if I rember correctly a couple got away
To: jwalsh07
Could have just been a lucky shot.
Since the Patriots have been shooting all other missiles down, I wonder if someone tried a lower trajectory hoping to make it under the radar??

It was probably a suicidal wacko OBL Saddam Hussein lover bomber.

Why do people joke in a thread like this? I don't know. It's about as appropriate as joking would be if a missile had just exploded in downtown Chicago and we were waiting for casualty reports.
To: Semper911
excerpt from Reuters: A policeman at the scene told Reuters he had seen a missile land in the sea. Other witnesses said the missile appeared to fly in over the sea from the direction of Iraq's Faw peninsula. ???
To: ET(end tyranny)
Reporter on WMAL Radio saying it's probably an Al-Samoud. What's their range?
To: aristeides
Oh I thought he was destroying those!
To: AlextheWise1
Al Jazzera saying that the missile was launched but missed (WTF,O?). Kuwait TV still saying the mall was hit with a missile.

Other witnesses said the missile appeared to fly in over the sea from the direction of Iraq's Faw peninsula. ??? That would mean it could also have come from a boat in the Persian Gulf.
How well secured is the Faw Peninsula at this point?
To: Semper911
Wonder what the intended target was-doubt it was the mall aat 2AM. What else is nearby?
