no no. You should print out all the "just move" posts for you children to teach them that when you see something you don't like, you just give up. What a great lesson freepers are teaching.

Were they HER trees to put them on? Even were they adjoining her property. Or did she run around plastering the town wityh her own view of what everybody should be saying, and thus not giving them the benefit of being able to say it BETTER by themselves, for themselves, in each's own way?

If so -- she was wrong and the town was right!

The City has a huge drive to encouraging the employees to support the troops by sending cards, "care packages", etc., so I'm sure the removal of the ribbons wasn't done in the spirit of anti-war.

The wackos in LA and SanFran don't speak for the real people in the rest of CA.

As a transplant from Orange County, I can agree with you 100%.

I wonder if Alison Hall would switch places with the unfortunate female SOLDIER who is MIA, and probably going thru an inconceivable time right now?....(I'm ashamed I can't recall the soldiers name, but you know who I mean).

Everyone -- please research before getting all hot and bothered. Since Tuesday, there has been an ENORMOUS yellow ribbon tied around the big oak tree at City Hall. Also, employees have been offered and given yellow ribbons to use in their offices. Please...

I just Called the City Manager of Thousand Oaks and every City council member --I live in Thousand Oaks.
The city has a guy hired to pick up signs on the street and he also picked up yellow ribbons---no common sense .The City staff were in meeting about this problem( Yellow ribbons ).

Please send E-Mail to City Hall showing your displeasure.

Time for a little civil disobedience:

Everybody that drives through the narrow-minded burgh should have a yellow ribbon on their car and tie one an any available tree.

Draft of a proposed letter (if a Thousand Oaks resident can send it, the better):

DRAFT

"Dear Councilperson __________: As you may well know, our fellow American and our fellow resident of Thousand Oaks, Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Byron Sells as been stationed in Kuwait in the war effort against Iraq. I understand Petty Officer 1st Class Sells is the first city employee stationed in Kuwait. We trust in Almighty Providence that he and his fellow Ventura County heroes will return safely to our community once this conflict is concluded.

In the meantime, Councilperson _________, I would like to request that yellow ribbons, as a symbol of our community's love, respect and appreciation toward Byron (and all the others), continue to be displayed by the City of Thousand Oaks and also be allowed for display by it's residents.

If there is any reason this cannot be done, would you please explain that directly in reply to this letter to me, and further explain to Byron once he returns from overseas why this could not be approved by the Thousand Oaks City Council? Please do everything in your power to assure that no city employee removes these symbols as well. Thank you." (appropriate 'cc to local media)

If the city doesn't want yellow ribbons, there are other ways to show support.

Maybe someone should call John and Ken and suggest a round-the-clock "Honk in Thousand Oaks if You Support the Troops" campaign. Perhaps mention the street the mayor lives on. No need to give his exact address, don't want some nut to cross the line, but late at night honking on his street might just get the neighbors to share their opinion with the mayor's opinion.
