BAGHDAD, Iraq, March 28 (UPI) -- Iraqi TV showed three Iraqi spies it said were recruited by the CIA to provide information on military camps, police posts and Baath Party centers.
The official TV station said Friday three satellite telephones and a quantity of TNT were seized from the three men who confessed to spying for the United States.
One of the men identified himself as 48-year-old Farid Ahmed Hammadi, married with six children, and said he was recruited by two people who live in his neighborhood. He named them as Maguid and Ahmed.
"I received this equipment (Ath Thuraya phone) via a mediator from Kirkuk," Hammadi said, adding it was the first time he saw such equipment and only knew later what it was.
His mission was to gather information on camps and party offices in return for a very small amount of money. He said he used to drive in a car with two other men "all the way to a specific site and write down in English the distance."
Another spy, Ali Hussein from Baghdad, said he met Gen. Mike, a CIA official, soon after he fled in the year 2000 to northern Iraq where he worked briefly with the Iraqi opposition.
Hussein said he escaped from Baghdad because he did not want to join the military and because of "a case of embezzling government funds."
He said Gen. Mike "claimed Iraq is finished and they (the U.S.) will take over and that the Iraqi people do not like the (Saddam) regime who is losing hold on security."
"He promised us high posts and assured we will be their agents as they will get out (of Iraq) and we will stay," Hussein said.
The third spy, who confirmed he was given a quantity of TNT shown on TV, said his mission was to collect information on certain sites that could be missed by the U.S. forces.

Confirmed that they've been shown on TV, or that they are CIA spies. They are probably some unlucky slobs that Saddam wants to make examples of.

I do not doubt that this was put on the official Iraqi TV broadcast. The persons shown on the screen were real, they were under guard by the elite Republican Guard, and not merely actors. Whether they were agents of CIA, may be open to conjecture, but getting this kind of treatment is meant to intimidate other "assets" the CIA has on the ground.
These people had guns to their heads, and would have said anything they were told to.

TOTAL B.S. I DON'T BUY A WORD OF IT.
Since when did CIA guys start calling themselves "General"? Gen. Mike? Sounds about as transparent a fabrication, as you can get. Names resemble parody posts on FR (like Achmed the Moslem, or Ahab the Arab).

Hmmm. If their job was to supply information, why were they carrying TNT?
If they were there to blow something up, why would they have a SAT-phone?

Sounds like IRaqiTV messed up though. They were quoted as saying the Americans would leave and that Saddam was finished. Anyone wondering if we would be occupiers has to feel better now.

They are liable to take these poor guys (if they arent Iraqi actors but have actually been chosen for this fate for propaganda) and behead them in public, or feed them feet-first into the "Fargo" plastic shredder, such as the Fedahyeen Saddamu are apt to do to enforce their rule of terror in Iraq.

That's ok. No apology necessary. I was just typing out loud I think. But I figure it's a sham anyway.
