Downtown drivers, set your cruise controls to slow.

Critical Mass, the monthly bicycle awareness event aimed at forcing motorists to take notice of their two-wheeled lane mates, typically barely gathers enough momentum to ruffle feathers, let alone rattle commuters.

Today at 4:30 p.m. that may change.

Visualize broomsticks in spokes. Thumbtacks work wonders as well.

Cyclists aim to block traffic Group to call attention to selves, U.S. use of oil

Of course, no petroleum products are used in the manufacturing of bikes and associated equipment, and those tight little spandex pants. </sarcasm off>

A little opposition research here:

http://www.foodnotbombs.net/

The Food Not Bombs Story

Food Not Bombs is one of the fastest growing revolutionary movements active in North America today and is gaining momentum all over the world. There are hundreds of autonomous chapters sharing vegetarian food with hungry people and protesting war and poverty throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia. The first group was formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980 by anti-nuclear activists. Food Not Bombs is an all volunteer organization dedicated to nonviolence. Food Not Bombs has no formal leaders and strives to include everyone in its decision making process. Each group recovers food that would otherwise be thrown out and makes fresh hot vegetarian meals that are served in city parks to anyone without restriction. The groups also serve free vegetarian meals at protests and other events. The San Francisco Chapter has been arrested over 1,000 times in an effort to silence its protest against the Mayor's anti- homeless policies. Amnesty International states it may adopt those Food Not Bombs volunteers that are imprisoned as "Prisoners of Conscience" and will work for their unconditional release.

Food Not Bombs works in coalition with groups like Earth First!, The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, Anarchist Black Cross, the IWW, Homes Not Jails, Anti Racist Action, In Defense of Animals, the Free Radio Movement and other organizations on the cutting edge of positive social change and resistance to the new global austerity program. One collective publishes a movement wide newsletter called A Food Not Bombs Menu. There is also a German language Menu. Food Not Bombs Publishing in Takoma Park, Maryland publishes books like On Conflict and Consensus which has been an important guide for group democracy. We hope you will join us in taking direct action towards creating a world free from domination, coercion and violence.

When events like this happen or bad cyclists threaten me, I just take my heavy duty cane out.

It isn't my fault when a poor old 64 year man in a stage of panic due to a dangerous bike terrorists accidentally gets his cane in the front wheel spokes.

Amazing how those tough clymers before the cane, just lay there and moan and groan and cry on the sidewalk with their crashed bike all around their body parts.

And old people have trouble holding stuff, say for instance, boxes of thumbtacks. It would be a shame if they accidentally spilled them.

Actually I have found that a box of the old style jacks that kids play with, work even better as a shaky old man drops his jacks.

Just a group of whackjobs who are a discredit all of us who love to cycle. I think I'll put a flag on my bike like we did when I was a kid on memorial day.
