"Muslim Arab drunks"
How can you even type that? LOL
Religion of peace and sobriety.
Next you will have us believe they ate a breakfast of sausages and bacon to try and sober up.

Maybe they were probing police 'defenses' and citizen awareness at this hour on a Saturday.Um, speaking of citizen awareness, it's Friday, Agnes.

I think that would be rappelled, not repelled ...

There was a warning from the FBI which was posted here at FR the enemy was going to try to use the anti-war demonstrations to infiltrate and get security information from certain locations within our cities.
Looks like the warning was correct.
And ... again ... the anti-war (anti-America anti-Bush) people give aid and comfort to the enemy.

Just kidding i hope you know - (sarcasm is my forte -but frequently misunderstood)
3 drunk muslims rapelling off a bridge for a prank during an orange alert.
I couldn't even make this stuff up.

So Bloomberg says these were just 3 stupid guys sitting around drinking? Oh, right.
Call me skeptical, even call me paranoid--but given the state of the world, and what we know about the deviousness of Al Qaeda, I have my doubts.
I think it was a reconnaissance mission.

We have an incident this morning on the I74 bridge in Bettendorf, Iowa. Police have it blocked off but no bombs found. They were responding to something phoned in so I doubt the incidents are related.

It appears the "rapelling" crap was completely bogus.
And whether the people were even "Middle Eastern" at all should be highly in doubt. (Of course, on this thread, people already decided they were Muslims without any actual evidence.)
To: oceanview
Fox 5 news saying they REPELLED off the bridge when confronted. This was the term they used, as if they slid down ropes from the superstructure? Now take them back, tie the ropes around their necks, and THROW them from the bridge.
To: John H K
Hey dude, I think you're replying to the wrong person.
I never once mentioned "Muslims" nor did I mention "rapelling".

... to blow up the other side. ... to blow up ON the other side?

ABC news initially described them as middle eastern..... and ABC news is almost always politically correct.

LOL, a bake sale!

It'd be nice if they could confirm the report before broadcasting it. Otherwise, it's just rumour and it get's everyone all worked up.

One of the Al Queda scenarios that was uncovered was that they would blow the cables on suspension bridges. This bridge qualifies.
It is possible that they were probing our defenses.

Me bad. I used the term "muslim".
I said "3 drunk muslims rapelling off a bridge for a prank during an orange alert. "
3 people of arab descent who may or may not have been of Arabic descent (in fact, may or may not have been of any descent, repalling from a bridge (may or may not have been repalling - might be bungee jumping or just may have hung a rope off of so-called bridge - we are unsure it was a bridge- in fact are unsure they were not just sitting there drunk - but may not be drunk - maybe on drugs or just plain tired - it is a long bridge, if it was even a bridge) during an orange alert.
Ok hopefully i have cleared that up and apologies all around.

My when I went over the East River this morning on a Metro North Train, there was a NYPD helicopter hovering at eyelevel next to the bridge we were on (not the Williamsburg). I have never seen it before, but as with the way they handled yesterday's protests it gave me great faith that the NYPD is an organization of professionals. They are looking out for my personal safety, so that I can devote my time to more productive uses (like posting to FR, of course).
