EDITORIAL You've got to hand it to Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-22nd Dist.) for his decision to openly question and criticize the Bush Administration while many of his Democratic colleagues stood mute and compliant.
It is the right and the duty of members of Congress to needle and question public policies. When they disagree with the majority, they need to let their colleagues and their constituents clearly know where they stand on an issue or policy.

A few days ago, far-left Dem Congressman Maurice Hinchey from NY's 22nd CD issued a letter accusing the US of committing a "massacre" in Iraq.
The Ithaca Journal is a generally liberal newspaper that endorsed Hinchey for Congress. For them to accuse him of impropriety and of insulting our troops is remarkable.

Always important to remember: Ithaca guns are no longer made in Ithaca.

Not surprisingly, of the two letters printed about Hinchey, the constituent from
Vestelis (rightfully) critical, while the constituent from
Ithacasays "I have rarely felt prouder of an elected official..."
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Perhaps the congressman was caught up in the emotion of a moment. More likely, he was simply playing to a particular segment of his constituency. Then you can add Charlie Rangel to the list of those Rats who are "caught up in the emotion of the moment." Last night on Hannity & Colmes, Rangel calmly stated that our troops are "bombers of women and children." Rangels Says Troops are Bombers of Women and Children

The constituent from Vestal who criticized Hinchey, Paul Slobodian, is planning to run against Hinchey in '04.
