I am a student at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore KY. I wanted to let everybody know that U.S. flags placed on the cafeteria table were ordered to be removed because of political correctness. The manager of the school cafeteria was a Gulf War Veteran and he decided to put American flags on the table to support American troops in the Middle East. The Seminary ordered those flags to be removed and it has caused quite a controversey. Folks this is very sad when the American flag is attacked like this. Please help!!! At least call the Seminary and voice your displeasure. You can get contact info at AsburySeminary.edu

I'll voice my displeasure and send an email.
But.... have some fun. Find an Islamic symbol, sneak in and put one on each table.
After they remove those, try a french flag.
Then write a letter to the editor of the student paper asking just who, as Americans, living in America, in a time of war, why we can't place american flags on the tables? Ask if we haven't gone overboard with political correctness and threaten to call in the ACLU to defend your right of free expression. OK..... the last one was a joke. *L*

I've started printing out stickers and putting them everywhere. Simple messages like Support our Troops and other positive messages (I think keeping it positive is important).
They have sheets of stickers at most office supplies. It is easy to print them up on your printer. If you don't make them too big you can carry them in your pocket.
Find a good place and stick up your message.

I guess the Asbury anti-Americans agree with Fred Phelps: God Hates America.

Can you let us know who was responsible for the decision to remove the flags?

This is a manifestation of one of the multiple reasons why I left this denomination. They are apostate. I am sorry that you have to learn the cold hard facts the hard way, but it is better that you learn them as soon as possible.
If you are upset by this... you will be outraged if you spend any amount of time at all at the national/international website of the UMC. It's best you do.
Socialists, leftists, and marxists have infected the hierarchy. I believe they are beyond repair. I consider it my moral obligation to out the UMC whenever and wherever I find the opportunity.
This organization is riddled with homosexual activists. The General Board & Society is the propaganda arm of the UMC. They denounced the Boy Scouts because the BSA refused to accept homosexual leaders for their troops. Activists lobby for abortion rights, while they have disengenuous policy on their website, extolling the virtues of life. Dubious is an understatement.
They lobby for legislation restricting the right to keep and bear arms.
They are in direct opposition to our President's decision in Iraq.
They are part and parcel to the Council of Churches. Be sure and go to their website as well. Another socialist, leftist, marxist think tank.
I could go on and on.
Flee my child, before you are indoctrinated by the left. Your awakening, to this denomination's true colors, may be the silver lining to this outrageous, un-American, PC madness.
The UMC is not your friend- they are wolves in sheep's clothing. BEWARE... is to BE AWARE !

You are absolutely right about the Revival. It occured about thirty years ago as the Holy Spirit swept around the world.
Seminaries are often volatile places these days, with everyone tiptoeing on eggshells to avoid schism.

Guess we should pray for a repeat but more advanced performance?
It would sure blunt the enemy's plans and pride to have students praying and worshipping 24/7 as then.
Blessings,

Sounds like you need to change seminaries.

Awfully nice of you to sign up today just to tell us this. Maybe I'm a tad paranoid, but just in case...

There is nothing wrong with Asbury in general or the United Methodists as a whole. The problem is that the higher up the ladder someone goes the more they tend to become liberal in their public personas. Thus the chism between United Methodists as individuals and most of the United Methodist Church's leadership. And the further north the state the more liberal they get.
The leaders of all the mainstream congregations are become mad with politics and moving toward liberalism. It should be interesting to see how much longer "believing" Christians are willing to carry any denominational tag.

Update: To answer somebody's question the decision was made by the administration at Asbury Theological Seminary, it was handled by the dean of the chapel. I have been bringing my little desk top flag and placing it on my table (as a few others have as well) I called in the local press to try and get this issue out to the general public so it isn't swept under the rug. Yesterday we had a good photo session with out american flags on the table. Campaign of resistence is still somewhat disorganized but steps have been made to resist the administration. I liked the suggestion of attacking them from the left to expose their absurdity. A campaign is also under way to organize protestors.

I meant the photo session yesterday was with American flags brought to the cafeteria by a few students.

You should contact Fox News or the Washington Times to get national publicity for this.
To: simicyber
Fox News has been contacted as well as the Washington Times. Thanks for the suggestions. I have specifically sent messages to O'reilly and Sean Hannity at Fox News.

My e-mailDear Sir,
In regards to your decision to remove American flags from the cafeteria tables; could you please send me the names and addresses of all of your current students so I may invite them to transfer to a seminary that is less hostile to the United States, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Thank you in advance,
W. Price
