Former University of Miami and Dolphins quarterback Bernie Kosar said Thursday that the national Democratic Party contacted him about running for U.S. Senate in Ohio in '04 against incumbent Sen. George Voinovich (R – OH), but he has passed.

Kosar also said that the Republican National Committee recently contacted him to gauge his interest in potentially running for Senator in Florida in '04, but he declined that as well.

Bernie's always been a Republican, he did campaign appearances for Bush the Elder in 1988 and I think 1992 as well. We used to joke that the Dukakis campaign was so incompetent they'd probably counter by having Bummer Esiason stump for them.....in NE Ohio.

Just 2 months ago, the RATS tried to recruit Jerry Springer to run for the Senate in 2004. He declined the offer. The OH RATS must be in really bad shape if they are recruiting celebrities for the Senate race.

It would be nice if the republicans got a true conservative to run for anything in Ohio.
